POLICE DEPARTMENT
VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
Corners Community Center
Ithaca, N.Y. 14850
To: Hon. Frederick G. Marcham, Mayor
Members of the Board of Trustees
Village of Cayuga Heights
Subject: Activities of the Police Department for month of April 1969
Gentlemen:
The Department handled 60 complaints and investigated 6 motor vehicle
accidents during the month. There were 52 traffic arrests and 16 parking
tickets issued. Six persons were arrested on warrants issued by the Village
Justice.
Due to the disturbances at Cornell University between April 18th - 23rd, it
was necessary to increase the patrols within the Village. The Department received
• numerous requests from Village residents for an increase in Police protection.
The officers of the Department worked many overtime hours to assure adequate
protection for the residents. As a result of the increased overtime, I would
like to recommend the officers be paid for this overtime period.
Approval is requested for the following purchases; 1 Stephenson resuscitator
plus extra oxygen tank approximate cost $325.00 and 1 Plectron dual frequency
radio receiver approximate cost $168.00. The above equipment purchases have
been provided for in the 1969 -70 budget. Also approval is requested for the
Police Chief to attend the New York State Chiefs of Police Conference at Buffalo,
New York from July 20th - 24th.
Sergeant McEwen and Patrolman Darling attended a two day In- Service School
on the operation of the breathalizer. Both are now qualified operators of the
breathalizer. The school was conducted by the New York State Police and was
held in Albany, New York on April 28th and 29th.
Respectfully submitted,
Jack W. tGraw, Sr.
