Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Subject: Activities of the Police Department for month of April 1969 Gentlemen: The Department handled 60 complaints and investigated 6 motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 52 traffic arrests and 16 parking tickets issued. Six persons were arrested on warrants issued by the Village Justice. Due to the disturbances at Cornell University between April 18th - 23rd, it was necessary to increase the patrols within the Village. The Department received • numerous requests from Village residents for an increase in Police protection. The officers of the Department worked many overtime hours to assure adequate protection for the residents. As a result of the increased overtime, I would like to recommend the officers be paid for this overtime period. Approval is requested for the following purchases; 1 Stephenson resuscitator plus extra oxygen tank approximate cost $325.00 and 1 Plectron dual frequency radio receiver approximate cost $168.00. The above equipment purchases have been provided for in the 1969 -70 budget. Also approval is requested for the Police Chief to attend the New York State Chiefs of Police Conference at Buffalo, New York from July 20th - 24th. Sergeant McEwen and Patrolman Darling attended a two day In- Service School on the operation of the breathalizer. Both are now qualified operators of the breathalizer.
