VILLAGE OF CAYUGA HEIGHTS
ITHACA, N. Y. 14850
To: Hon. Frederick G. Marcham, Mayor
Members of the Board of Trustees
Village of Cayuga Heights
Subject: Activities of the Police Department for month of February, 1969
Gentlemen:
On February 12, Joseph W. Mace, Jr., a part -time Patrolman with the
Department since May 6, 1967 passed away. On February 24, Patrolman
William F. Reynolds, employed by the Department since October 14, 19672
passed away. Both men were very competent and dedicated officers and
their passing is a great loss to the Department and the Village.
The Department handled 51 complaints and investigated 6 motor
vehicle accidents during the month. There were 49 traffic summonses
and 28 parking tickets issued.
• One male subject was arrested for harassment as a result of a
fight in the parking lot at the Corners Community Center on February 13.
On February 6, a burglary was committed at the main building of the
Corners Community Center. This case is still under investigation. There
is an increasing problem with burglaries in the surrounding area and it
necessitates closer surveillance of the business district by the officers.
A case of shoplifting at a business place in the Village Green Shop-
ping Center resulted in the apprehension of three juveniles. They had
stolen 58 ball point pens valued at $86.39 which were recovered and
returned to the owner.
The proposed specifications for new patrol cars will be submitted
for approval so that the advertising for bids can be made in the near
future.
Respectfully submitted,
Jack W. McGraw, Sr.
Chief of Police
