ENGINEER'S REPORT
JUNE 1969
0 I. Sewer Line Infiltration
A major sewer line leak has been located in the North Sunset 8" main by the
flow meter program. Tests are currently underway to isolate the leak and
correct it. The Teetor- Dobbins program for use of flow meters was based
on the use of five meters and it is recommended by them to continue this
program by Village personnel. This would necessitate the purchase of
five used but in good operating condition meters rather than the four as
discussed the last Special Board Meeting. The price of the meters is
$139.00 or a total of $695.00. Fred Howe has been hired as a temporary
employee. One of his duties will be the maintenance and operation of the
flow meters. He is presently being instructed by Teetor - Dobbins personnel.
II. Sewage Treatment Plant
Summer employee, Fred Howe, will operate the Village Sewer Plant on weekends
four hours Saturday and four hours Sunday as part of his regular 40 -hour
week. Ile worked for the Village Sewer Plant last year so is familiar with
the operation.
III. Sidewalks
Grading for the sidewalks has been completed on the house side of the
sidewalk for all areas except in front of Hatfields where the operation
• has been held up because of the installation of the Hatfield's sewer
lateral. The Hatfield sewer lateral was completed on June 4th. It is
recommended that the construction of the retaining wall at the large
culvert between Quinn's and Hatfield's be put out for bid. Rough estimate
of cost would be about $1,000. Grading of the roadside ditch for the
sidewalk has been started and will be finished within two weeks.
IV. Carriage House Fire Hydrant
The installation of an 8" water main from Pleasant Grove Road has been
completed and the fire hydrant is now in operation at the rear of the
Telephone Company adjacent to their parking lot. As a result of our
excavation for this water line water has come to the surface and has
continued to flow for over a 2 -week period. This is our responsibility
although as yet it has not been absolutely determined as to the origin
of this water. This may add to the cost of the completed job.
V. Sewer Line Plans Submitted for Approval
Plans and profiles for the Sharon Wood Drive and Pine Woods Place for the
sewer mains drawn by Engineer T. G. Miller have been submitted for Village
approval. A copy of these plans are available at the Village Office for
Board inspection. These plans are in order and it is recommended that they
be approved.
VI. Board of Trustees Approval of Teetor - Dobbins Report
• It is recommended that approval be given to the Engineer's Report on the
addition to the Village Sewage Treatment Plant submitted by Teetor - Dobbins.
Approval is necessary at this time for applications for State and Federal Aid.
It is also recommended that approval be given for bill from Teetor - Dobbins
for $15,228.75 for preparation of this report. The bill is in accordance
with professional engineering practice.
