ENGI10ER88 REPORT
April 7, 1969
I. Sewer Line Infiltration
A report is due from Teetor - Dobbins on infiltration caused by rain during the
last week in March. Flow charts indicate that the infiltration was more or
less constant during the week but did not exceed the rate of 750,000 gallons
per day. During the rain storm inspection for leaks was carried out by
Village forces and a number of additional man holes located outside the
Village were found to have leaks. These were reported to the municipality
owning the lines.
II. Sewage Treatment Plant Additions
The topographic survey of the lands owned by the Village at the Treatment
Plant and the lands owned by Liberman west of the Village owned lands was
completed by Engineer and land surveyor, T. G. Miller, and submitted to
our consulting engineers, Teetor - Dobbins as requested by them. Teetor-
Dobbins have come to the definite conclusion that the land west of the
Sewage Treatment Plant and down to the Lake Shore Drive will be needed for
the construction of the additions and that the Village should proceed with
the purchase of this land.
A meeting has been set up for Friday, April 11 at 2:30 in the Village Office
at which time Mr. Teetor will explain his recommendations to the Engineer
and Village Attorney on proposed connection charges as a way of helping to
finance the sewer plant additions and alterations. Attendance by the Mayor
and /or the Trustees that can make the meeting would be helpful.
Mr. Dobbins of Teetor - Dobbins made a trip to our plant last week to go over
in detail the operation of the plant, the parts of the plant that should be
incorporated in the new design and those parts that should be replaced or
altered.
III. Streets
It is recommended that the street opening permit fee be increased from
$5.00 to $10.00.
IV. Development
Plans have been received for Garden Apartments in the Town of Lansing adjacent
to the Village boundary owned by the Lansing Town Houses Inc. This apartment
house complex has requested permits allowing them to attach to the Village
sewer system.
Platte have also been received from Mr. T. G. Miller indicating proposed
sanitary sewer main across the lands of M. P. Catherwood and tying into the
Village sanitary sewer system. This line is for the connection of the
Lansing Terrace Apartments.
V. A report will be presented at the Board meeting indicating the accumulated
overtime spent in checking the Village Sewage Treatment Plant. It was hoped
and originally thought that this overtime would be taken as time off but
because of job requirements this has been impossible. It is recommended
that this overtime be paid before the end of the year out of surpluses in
the sewer fund.
