Marcham, Mayor Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Subject: Activities of the Police Department for month of March 1969 Gentlemen: The Department handled 47 complaints and investigated 2 motor vehicle accidents during the month. There were 79 traffic summonses and 9 parking tickets issued. During March we received numerous complaints concerning solicitors in the Village. I would like to discuss the problem with the Board and make some recommendations for possible action. • In regards to the Curfew Ordinance, we have handled 2 cases involving 6 juveniles since the Ordinance became effective January lat. A copy of the Ordinance and letters were sent to the parents of the juveniles advising them of the violation. We have had no further problem with these juveniles as of this time. A recommendation for action by the Board will be made concerning the new police car bids received on March 31st. Approval is requested for payment of the annual dues for the Police Chief to the International Association of Chiefs of Police in the amount of $25.00. Sergeant McEwen and Patrolman Darling attended a seminar on March 25th and 26th at Binghamton concerning the problem of Alcohol, Drugs, and Driving. It was recommended at the seminar that officers be trained in the operation of the breathalizer, a device used to conduct chemical tests for intoxication. Arrangements are being made for our officers to receive this training in the near future. Respectfully Bubmiittted, "W, / & A. Sack W. McGraw, Sr. Chief of Police •
