There were a total of 131 traffic tickets issued and 7 parking tickets written. During August there were two felony complaints: one for Forgery and one for Grand Larceny. A resident reported that he had received notification from his bank that he had overdrawn checks written against his check book and the one belonging to his wife. During the investigation and with numerous interviews it was discovered that a number of checks had been forged with his signature and his wife's. These checks had all been cashed at banks and stores outside of the village. The case was handed over to the City of Ithaca Police Department and the New York State Police Investigation units with arrests pending. The grand larceny was the theft of numerous items from an unlocked vehicle. There was one misdemeanor reported, Petit Larceny. A resident reported that his recycle bin and another plastic bin had been taken from the end of his driveway. There were five violations reported for the month of August, all for Disorderly Conduct. Three of the incidents were reports of loud music being played. The subjects responsible were advised and all agreed to shut off the music. A resident reported that a generator on a neighbor's property made noise and disturbed her. As there is no specific noise ordinance in the village, the complaint was referred to the code enforcement officer for follow -up. The final disorderly conduct resulted in the arrest of a 19 year old male. While on patrol the officer observed 2 subjects walking in the middle of the roadway. The subjects stated that they were lost and needed directions. Directions were given and both subjects were advised to use the sidewalk. One of the subjects did not comply after being told to do so more than once, becoming argumentative and belligerent. The subject was arrested for disorderly conduct and issued an appearance ticket for court. There were five Village Ordinance complaints: Four for Dog Control and one for Soliciting without a Permit. Two of the dog complaints were resolved by speaking with the owners and no further action was needed. The other two dog complaints resulted in a 52 year old female being arrested for letting her dog run loose and appearance tickets issued for court A resident reported a male had been at her door stating that he was collecting money for an organization and when questioned, changed his story. That subject and others in the area were all located. The subjects stated that they were selling magazines from a company based in Georgia. All were advised to leave the area and not to return. There was one Vehicle and Traffic complaint. A 50 year old male was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. There were seventy -three miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of August During the month of August, Officer Lanning attended a one day school held at the Broome County Law Enforcement Academy with the Division of Criminal Justice concerning prescription drug abuse. Sgt Boyce and Officer Steinmetz qualified the new officers with the handgun and gave training in Article 35. The full time officers worked 92.5 hours of overtime and the part-time officers worked 157 hours. There was a total of $1,030 reported lost or stolen for the month of August. Kenneth W.
