There were a total of 74 traffic tickets issued and 6 parking tickets written. During July there was one felony complaint, Grand Larceny. While in the process of moving, a resident noticed that a necklace with matching earrings were missing from a felt jewelry holder which was kept in a drawer. The holder was still in the drawer but was empty. The case is still under investigation. There were nine misdemeanors reported: four for Petit Larceny, four for Criminal Mischief and one for Criminal Contempt. One petit larceny occurred when a customer pumped gasoline into her vehicle and left without paying. The customer was contacted and returned to pay. A resident reported some items of jewelry missing from her home. A few days later, the resident found the items, having forgotten that she had moved them. The case was classified as unfounded and closed. A Kendal resident reported her wallet containing cash was missing. The complainant was unsure of the exact date of the theft but probably within the previous three weeks from when she reported it. The final petit larceny was the reported theft of an envelope containing cash and a paycheck while in the process of moving to a different home. One of the criminal mischief complaints was damage to a mailbox. It appeared that a subject had hit it with some type of metal piping. An unknown subject spray painted a NYS project announcement sign. A resident reported that sometime during die night, someone threw what appeared to be a drinking glass through one of the front windows of his house. The final criminal mischief was reported when the complainant stated that his vehicle was parked in front of his residence when he saw another vehicle go by. The vehicle then came back by and a subject in the vehicle hit the passenger side mirror on his vehicle with a bat. The complainant recognized the vehicle and the subjects in it. After an investigation, a 17 year old male was arrested for criminal mischief and a youth was given a juvenile ticket for county court. The criminal contempt case was reported when a subject stated that she received a phone call from a male who she has an order of protection against. This complaint resulted in the arrest of a 22 year old male. There were three violations reported for the month of July: two for Disorderly Conduct and one for Harassment. Both disorderly conducts were complaints dealing with loud noise. In both incidents, the subjects responsible were advised of the complaint and there were no further problems. A resident reported that she was having problems with another subject. The subject has been text messaging her threatening statements and also has been making these statements to the complainant's friends. The subject has also been following the complainant to different locations in her vehicle. The complainant wanted charges filed. A 19 year old female was arrested for harassment and an order of protection was issued. There were five Village Ordinance complaints: two for Dog Control and three for Solicitors. One dog case was a report of a found dog. The other dog complaint was the report of a dog biting a resident and attacking the resident's cat. The dog's owner, a 58 year old mate, was issued an appearance ticket for damage and destruction of property in addition to the charge of a dog running loose. The dog's owner was also charged under the Agriculture and Market Laws Section 121 for a dangerous dog. The Judge issued a seizure order and the dog was taken by the SPCA where it has remained until the charges are addressed at court. One of the solicitor complaints was the report of a subject without a permit. The subject was advised of the village ordinance and agreed to leave the area. The other two solicitor incidents were requests for non - for - profit groups to canvass the village. There was one Vehicle and Traffic complaint. A 38 year old male was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated. A case of Domestic Dispute resulted in the arrest of a 52 year old male for Assault, Menacing and Harassment. There were seventy -five miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of July. During the month of July, Officer Lanning held two 1 -hour sessions at Kendal for the employees on workplace violence and dispute resolutions. More sessions are planned to be scheduled for September. The full time officers worked 144.5 hours of overtime and the part-time officers worked 174.5 hours. There was a total of $11,954 reported lost or stolen and $14 in property recovered for the month of July. i iofftlicc . Lansing CAYUGA HEIGHTS POLICE DEPT.
