HomeMy WebLinkAboutWorking Supvr Report081803.pdf August 18, 2003 TO: BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: Ed Quick, Working Supervisor PERIOD: July 2003 REPORT BY DEPARTMENT: 1. PUBLIC WORKS A. Street System We have had several complaints from people about brush covering signs, sidewalks, and streets. We have been cutting the brush back when we get the chance. The hot patch machine has been used on some roads to fill in potholes, but some roads are in such bad shape that this won’t help much. In the next coming weeks, we are going to crack seal a few more roads, and spray patch and resurface a few others. I would like to use the new paver on a few short streets – a ton of type 7 top costs $33.20. I have been in contact with The Line Stripping xo. To set up a date to stripe the roads, hopefully before school starts. B. Storm Water System The storm we had on July 21 uncovered and raised 140’ of drainage pipe that we had put on Wyckoff Road. We had to install the whole system again. We have also installed drainage pipe at several village residents who wanted to fill in their ditches. C. Water System – There were four water breaks in 3 days – three on Forest Drive and one on West Upland. D. Drainage System A Sewer Maintenance Program has been established where we flush and clean a section of the Village each year. This year we did about 5000 ft. We had 20 UFPO’s to mark out and 5 sewer inspections, along with one sewer plug-up on Kline Road. E. Solid Waste As you know at the last Board Meeting, we had a severe rain and wind storm which knocked down several large and small trees and a lot of branches which are still being brought out. Reeves Bros., who hauls the brush away, feels that there should be an extra expense on such occasions. I hope that the new flyer that the Public Works Committee mailed to the residents changes the way the residents are putting out brush. F. Building and Grounds We poured the concrete floor in two bays and replaced three doors. We have two more bays to pour. G. Equipment: DPW Fuel Consumption for the month: Gas = 426 gal. Diesel = 768 gal. H. Personnel – No report I. Safety The new exhaust was installed this month.
