From: Report of the Police Department for February 2003
For the month of February there were a total of 96 complaints reported to the police department and 5
motor vehicle accidents investigated. There were a total of 89 traffic tickets issued and 25 parking tickets
written.
During February there were two felony complaints both for Burglary. A complainant reported that when
she arrived back at her apartment after being gone for the day, an unknown subject had broke out a window
and entered her residence. She reported that a laptop computer had been taken. The second burglary was
also a report of a stolen laptop computer. In this incident the complainant reported that an unknown subject
had entered his apartment through an unlocked door. Both cases are still under investigation. There were
three misdemeanors reported: two for Petit Larceny and one for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property.
One larceny was reported when a customer pumped gasoline into her vehicle and left without paying. The
customer was contacted by the police department and returned to pay. The second larceny was reported by
a subject who had left his shoes outside of the apartment door in the stairwell area. Sometime during the
overnight, the shoes were stolen. The 3rd misdemeanor case was the result of recovered stolen property. A
public payphone, which had been previously taken from the Pyramid Mall, was located in an apartment
within the Village. The company which owns the payphone pressed charges which resulted in four subjects
arrested for Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. There were seven violations reported during the
month: six for Disorderly Conduct and one for Unlawful Possession of Mariltttana. Five of the disorderly
conduct complaints were reports of loud music being played. All responsible parties were contacted with
no further problems reported. The final disorderly conduct was the report of a subject causing a
disturbance on a T -CAT bus. T he driver o f the bus a nd the passenger resolved their difficulties. The
unlawful possession of marihuana case was the result of the officer checking on a suspicious vehicle. A
passenger in the vehicle was arrested and issued an appearance ticket for possessing marihuana. There
were four Village Ordinance complaints, three concerning dog problems and one request for a solicitor's
permit. There were six Vehicle and Traffic Law complaints: one for Driving While Intoxicated which
resulted in the arrest of a 21 year old male, one parking problem and four miscellaneous traffic complaints.
There were seventy -four miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of February.
During the month of February Officer Lanning, Officer Steinmetz and myself assisted at the annual
Eckerd's Drug Quiz Contest. All full time officers attended a one day training about Hazing and the
