HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Fire Department for Aug 2002CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT 194 Pleasant Grove Road Ithaca, NY 14850 (607) 257 -2377 Honorable Walter Lynn, Mayor Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Monthly Report- August, 2002 During the Month of August, the Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to twenty- two medical emergencies and eleven fire related calls. Of the calls, six were in the Town of Ithaca and twenty -one were in the Village. The fire department also provided mutual aid assistance six times during the month. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department received no mutual aid assistance. The. fire department responded to six mutual aid calls, four calls to the City of Ithaca and two calls to Lansing. I am pleased announce that with the help of Kathleen Yen the fire reporting software has been upgraded to the newest version. This will soon allow us to submit our reports to the state using the internet. Discussion of Vehicle Exhaust System. The accidental 911 open lilne was caused by a young child playing with the telephone. All units were released by the TC sheriff deputy and returned to service. 002 -000266 -00 081022002 18:59 Service all 8 Cayu3a Heights Fire Department personnel were called to stand by for Ithaca Fire Department. at the above location, during their gorge rescue. There were no ails. 002 -000267 -00 08/052002 08:53 EMS only 5 [See PCR #4- 80413551 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all, reporting a sixty-five year old male with a severe headache, at the above location. CHFD personnel arrived at the sane and found the patient in the arc of other EMS personnel. All patient are was handled by Bangs ambulance personnel. 002. 000268 -00 08/052002 10:04 - EMS only 6 [So. PCR94- 80413561 Cayuga Heights Fh-c1EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all, reporting an elderly patient with chest pain, at the above location. Bangs ambulance personnel were at the sane when CHFD arrived Patient care was handled by Bangs ambulance. 002 -000269 -00 081062002 08:21 EMS only 7 [See PCR #4- 80 4 13 5 71 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medical all, reporting a seventy-six year old female with shortness of breath. Bangs ambulance personnel were on the sane when CHFD arrived CHFD personnel stood by and were released by the Bangs paramedic. 002 -000270 -00 OB/062002 10:11 -' - - Good imam all 10 Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to a mutual aid given to taming Fire Department for a fire alarm activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated and determined that the activation was due to burnt toast. No smoke and no fire were found The alarm was reset and the property owner contacted. 002 -000271 -00 081062002 18:54 --' EMS only 8 [Sea PCR #4. 80413581 Cayuga Heights Fhe/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above location. Personnel arrived at the sane and found a twenty year old mile, complaining pain to the right knee, in the are of Cornell University EMS. History, assessment and care were done. CHFD contacted Cayuga Medial Center who contacted Poison Control. Personnel arrived at the scene and found an elderly male, lying down, alert and lethargic. The patient's wire reported a sudden onset of weakness and diaphoresis. History, assessment and are were done. Patient care was tramt'erted to Bangs ambulance personnel who transported the patient to Cayuga Medial Center. 002 -000276 -00 08/112002 20:07 -" '.. The private alarm company was contacted and they reset to alarm 002 -000277 -00 08/122002 01:43 EMS only 6 (See PCR#4. 80413621 Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above location, for a report of an elderly male experiencing difficulty breathing Patient arc was handled by Bangs ambulance personnel who transported the patient to Cayuga Medical Center. 002 -000278 -00 081122002 13:06 EMS only 6 (See PCR#4- 80413631 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above !cation. Personnel arrived at the scene and found a seventeen month old male child with had lacerations resulting from a fall through a glass window while sated in a highchair. The child was in its mother's awns and in the arc of the lire guard on duty. History, assessment and arc were done. Patient are was transferred to Bangs ambulance personnel. Both patients were in the care of Bangs ambulance personnet when CHFD arrived. Personnel arrived at the scene and found a middle age male padent in the are of Cayuga Heights police. The patient refused medical arc and signed a CNY EMS Patient Refusal Form 002 -000290 -00 08/252002 08:31 False unintentional 5 Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for a fire alarm activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated, and determined that the activation was caused by steam from the shower. The system was reset. Personnel arrived at the sane, and found #419 at the sane with a disassembled smoke detector. It was reported that the resident attempted to remove the malfunctioning detector and set off the alarm.
