Monthly Report-July, 2002
During the Month of July, the Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to twelve
medical emergencies and fifteen fire related calls. Of the calls, twelve were in the Town
of Ithaca and thirteen were in the Village. The fire department also provided mutual aid
assistance twice during the month. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department received no
mutual aid assistance.
The fire department responded to two mutual aid calls, both to the Tompkins County
Airport for standby.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to fire alarm activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene and
investigated and found wine. BOCES was testing the system for
Building D. When the system was react, it tripped the alarm in Building A. The system was reset by the alarm company prior to the arrival of
CHFD. CHFD personnel advised them not to reset the alarm until the arrival of the fire department next time.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to a fire alarm activation at the above loation Personnel arrived at the sane,
investigated and confirmed the report of #978 - CU -EH &S (Comell University Environmental Health & Safety) that there was an accidental
pullbox activation. The alarm panel was reset by 4978 - CU EH&S and they educated the puller and took arc of the box.

the scene and found an adolescent male lying on the floor. History, assessment and care were done. Patient care was tranferred to Bangs
ambulance personnel, who transported the patient to Cayuga Medial Center.

Personnel arrived at the sane and found an elderly male lying on the bathroom floor complaining of leg pain. History, assessment and arc
were done. Tompkins County Sheriffs Department assisted Bangs with 941 transport Bangs transported the patient to Cayuga Medical Centa.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to fire alum activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene,
investigated, and found no visible smoke, hazard or fire. A tenant reported burning food that did not activate the smoke detector, Possible
detector activation on the third floor near the kitchen CHFD personnel were unable to access the alarm panel. CHPD made wiry and looked
the building uben CHFD exited.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to a report ore hazardous condition at the above location, a lightning strike near the
house. Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated, located the strike on a tree behind #318 Siena. The hoax and yard were clear-no smoke
and no fire was found. CHFD returned to service.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to a report of a hazardous condition at the above location CHPD was on the scene when
CHFD arrived CHFD investigated, found multiple wua down and blocking the read. CHFD stood by until NYSEO arrived And cleared units.

plane coming in with gear problems. The all was cancelled before CHFD left the station The plane landed safely.

Personnel arrived at the scene and found two female patients, a thirty -three year old female complaining of fainting, and a sixty4wce year old
female complaining ofchest pain. Patient history, assessment and care were done. The thirty-three year old patient refused are and transport
and signed a CNY EMS Patient Refusal Form. Care of the sixty -two year old female patient was transferred to Bangs ambulance personnel ubo
transported.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to an alarm activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated
and found the building with no power. 7be ruin alarm panel was beeping due to a trouble alarm/no AC power. Personnel investigated then
building and found no smoke and no Ere. The occupant reported calling the alarm company alter hearing the panel beeping CHFD met with
the site manager, investigated the electrical panels in the basement and found no problems in the building The building was turned over to the
site manager and CHFD units were returned to service.

The patient initially did not want care or transport. Patient care was trarufcrred to Bangs ambulance personnel who transported the patient to '

met by Cornell University Police and Tompkins County Sheriff. The husband and two children (5 year old male and 7 year old male) were
located at 20:17.

the scene and found an elderly ferule in the care of CHPD persormcl, complaining of dizziness and nausea. Patient care was handled by CHPD
and Bangs ambulance personnel. A CNY EMS Patient refusal of carrltransportation was obtained by Bangs ambulance.

the scene, investigated and found the apartment empty. Cornell University stetfsuted the resident had moved to Apt. #609. No medical
emergency and no patient were found. Apparently a resident had accidentally hit the all box and did not answer the phone when the alarm
company called back

investigated, and determined that the alarm had been activated by excessive dust raised by the contractors/workers. The alarm was disconnected
and the resident advised to contact the alarm service company to Dave the system checked, reset, and placed inxrvice. The resident was
advised to maintain a fire watch.
