HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Fire Department for June 2002CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT 194 Pleasant Grove Road Ithaca, NY 14850 (607) 257 -2377 Honorable Walter Lynn, Mayor Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Monthly Report -June, 2002 During the Month of June, the Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to seventeen medical emergencies and twenty -two fire related calls. Of the calls, sixteen were in the Town of Ithaca and twenty -one were in the Village. The fire department also provided mutual aid assistance twice during the month. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department received mutual aid assistance once. The fire department responded to two mutual aid calls, one to Lansing and one to Ithaca. We received mutual aid once from Ithaca. We asked Ithaca to stand by at there station while we investigated an alarm at Dewitt Middle School. Personnel arrived at the scene and found an activated detector (second floor hallway, third detector from the double door). Personnel completed a primary search and found no smoke and no flrc. The detector had was removed and reinstalled The alarm was successfully reset. Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated, and found the alarm was accidentally activated by the cleaning lady, who stated the pendant owmer no longer lived at the above location, but now resided at Kendal. 000201 -00 06/0312002 12:39 SALEM DRIVE EMS only 8 [PCRN4. 80413311 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded tow emergency medial all at the above location reporting a male who fell from a ladder. Personnel arrived at the scene and found a male n lying on his right side, confused and unable to answer questions. Patient fell approximately twenty-five feet A citizen uynander reported that the patient was unconcious prior to the arrival of CHFD. CHFD set up a pump and IeR it with the homeowner. Resident to repair /replace their pump and were advised to all CHFD if the pump did not remove the water. The occupant reported that there was a smoke/odor from a Ilourescenl light fixture prior to tie arrival of CHFD. The fixture was investigated with a but gun and the attic above the cailingwae opened. No hazards, smoke or heat were found. Fusa were not tripped. The owner was advised to cut power to the fixture and have it inspected by an electrician.
