Lynn Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights From: Report of the Police Department for May 2002 For the month of May there were a total of 112 complaints reported to the police department and 3 motor vehicle accidents investigated. There were a total of 66 traffic tickets issued and 14 parking tickets written. During May there was one felony complaint reported, a Burglary. A resident reported that upon his return to his house, he found the rear door unlocked and open. It appeared that the suspect had opened the outer screen door, broke a small windowpane out on the inside door which allowed access to the door knob and lock. Numerous items were stolen. The case is still open. There were six misdemeanors reported to this department: four for Petit Larceny and two for Aggravated Harassment. Two of the larcenies occurred when drivers pumped gasoline into their vehicles and left without paying. A license plate number was obtained in one of the incidents. That driver was contacted and returned to pay. A Kendal resident reported that her wallet had been taken from her room. The fourth larceny was the report of the signs and post taken from the entrance to the Village on Ridgewood Rd. One of the aggravated harassment cases was the report of a resident receiving an annoying and very disturbing phone call from an unknown person. As of this date, there have been no more calls received. The second aggravated harassment case was the result of a juvenile leaving a threatening message on another juvenile's cell phone voice mail. The officer, parents and the youth responsible discussed what had been done and the crime that had been committed. For this incident, all parties agreed that this would be handled within the department and no formal charges issued. The officer advised the youth and parents that if this happened again, Family Court would be involved. There were two violations reported, both for Disorderly Conduct. Both complaints were concerning loud, noisy subjects. In both incidents the subjects responsible were advised of the complaint and no further action was needed. There were seven complaints involving Village Ordinances: four for Dog Control and three involving solicitors and permits. There were six Vehicle & Traffic Complaints: two for parking problems, two for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and two miscellaneous traffic infractions. There were ninety miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of May. A subject who had been arrested on a parole warrant during April was additionally charged with aggravated harassment. During the month of May, all officers spent a Friday at the range for their semi - annual firearm qualifications. During the month of May the full time officers worked 136.5 hours of overtime and the part-time officers worked 302 hours. There was a total of $5,499 in property lost or stolen for the month. ; O in y, Kenneth W. Lansing Chief of Police CAYUGA HEIGHTS POLICE DEPT.
