HomeMy WebLinkAboutReport of the Fire Department for April 2002 (2)CAYUGA HEIGHTS FIRE DEPARTMENT 194 Pleasant Grove Road Ithaca, NY 141350 (607) 257 -2377 Honorable Walter Lynn, Mayor Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Monthly Report - April, 2002 During the Month of April, the Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to twenty - one medical emergencies and seventeen fire related calls. Of the calls, fourteen were in the Town of Ithaca and twenty were in the Village. The fire department also provided mutual aid assistance three times during the month. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department received mutual aid assistance one time. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Town of Ithaca. Upon arrival the garage of the structure was engulfed in fire. The fire was quickly extinguished preventing it from spreading to the attached apartment structure. One engine was called from Ithaca to provide mutual aid assistance at the fire scene. The fire department responded to three mutual aid calls. One to Lansing, one to Ithaca and one to Varna. Personnel arrived at the scene and found Bangs ambulance personnel in convnand. The call was cancelled by Bangs when CHFD arrived in the patent's roots All patient care handled by Bangs ambulance. 000119 -00 04/032002 13:07 1 SAPSUCKER WOODS ROAD Service call 8 Cayuga Height Fire Department personnel were called for a mutual aid to Varna, for a fire alarm activation, at the above location. The all was cancelled by Varna. 000120 -00 04/032002 14:21 TRIPHAMMER ROAD EMS only 6 [PCR#4. 8041284) Cayuga Heights FhWEMS personnel responded to a mutual aid emergency all, at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene and found a male patient lying on the floor in cardiac arrest in the are of Laming EMS and Bangs. All patient care, at the sane, wu in progress and handled by laming EMS and Bangs ambulance personnel. CHFD assisted with loading patient into the ambulance. CHFD EMT Updike drove the ambulance to the hospital and EMT Weissman performed compressions enroute to the hospital. 000121-00 04/062002 20:19 SAPSUCKER WOODS ROAD structure fuse 31 Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for a reported fire in the garage of a house, with electrical wires involved. Personnel arrived at the scene and found a four -unit apartment with fare visible from the back and roof of the garage. CHFD 202 aew initiated the attack with "miff supply by 231 and called one engine mutual aid from Ithaca Fire Department The fire wu controlled, Ilimiled to the garage area, and extinguished Crews overhauled and checked for extension. Tompkins County Sheriffs Department will investigate the muse. The salvage team covered the windows and secured the building. 000122 -00 04/072002 18:44 WINSTON COURT Good intent call 19 Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to a all for a hazardous condition (food left on unattended stove), at the above location. Personnel arrived at the sane and found the stove off. The pan of food was removed and units were returned to service. 000123 -00 04/092002 16:10 WYCKOFF AVE. -ALPHA False malbnction 16 Cayuga Heights Fire Department were called for a fuse alarm activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the sane, investigated, found the activated had was in the first floor cating area, above the stairs to the basement Head was cleaned, replead and system was rcseL No other bads were activated The alsrn was determined to be a malfumction The house parents were notified to all the alarm company to have the system and heads serviced 000124-00 041092002 20:47 FOREST DRIVE EMS only 13 [PCR 94- 8041285) Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene and found an elderly female (D.O.B. I1- 18 -14) lying on the floor. Patient reported that she had had a sudden onset of weakness and fell and staled that she felt weak and that her vision was blurry. History, assessment and are were done and then all patient was transferred to Bangs ambulance personnel wtho transported. 000125 -00 04/092002 22:19 TRIPHAMMERROAD False malfunction 23 Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for a fro alum activation at the above location Pe sonnela arrived at the scene, investigated, and determined that the activation was due to water dripping through the smoke detector. The zone was isolated and the occupants were notified to all service for repairs. 000126 -00 04/112002 05:35 CHRISTOPHER CIRCLE EMS only 3 [PCR#4. 8041286] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above location Personnel arrived at the scene, with Bangs, and found an elderly female (D.O.B. OS -09.16) lying on her left side on the floor, complaining of falling and pain everywhere. EMS only 7 [PCR#4. 8041287] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medical all at the above location Personnel arrived at the scene and foud a 23 year old male in the are of Bangs arnbulance personnel. The patient had a visibly angulated left forearm. All patient are was handled by Bangs. 000128 -00 041122002 15:31 NORTH SUNSET DR EMS only 10 [FCR #4. 8041288] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medical call at the above location. Personnel arrived at the sane and found a 27 year-old female, in the arc of Bangs ambulance personnel, complaining of right hip pain All patient care w handled by Bangs. CHFD assisted with lifting and moving the stretcher to the ambulance. 000129.0 041132002 15:54 WARREN ROAD- MOAKLEY 1 False malfunction IS Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to an alarm at the above location Personnel arrived at the sane, and found 6418 on the sane and in contact with dispatch The alarm was activated because of a malfunction with the phone line. #418 silenced to alarm and cleared CHFD. 000130-00 041152002 11:02 1 NORTH TRIPHAMMER EMS only 5 [PCR #4. 8041289] Cayuga Heights FhWEMS personnel responded to an emergency medical all at the above location Personnel arrived at the scene and found the patient in the arc of Bangs ambulance and being treated for injuries resulting from a fall from a bicycle. Personnel arrived at the sane, investigated, and determined that the alarm activation was caused by the buffer in use. CHFD was unable to reset because of an alarm malfunction, possibly a bad backup battery. Maintenance was advised to contact the alarm company. The dialer was turned of and maintenance was advised to Comm a fat watch until the alarm "an was fixed. 000132 -00 04/172002 15:08 - NORTH TRIPHAMMER EMS only 10 [PCR#4. 8041259] Cayuga Heights FbdEMS personnel responded to an emergency medial call at the above location Persamel arrived at ' the sane and found an elderly female (D.O.B. 10- 17.13) in the are of Kendal nursing staff and Bang ambulance peraamel, and complaining of chest pains. All patient care provided by Bang who transported CHFD assisted moving patient, by stretcher, to the ambulance. 000133-00 041182002 16:33 1 WINSTON COURT 1 EMS only 13 [PCR #4 - 8041260] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above location, reporting a mental health problem with injury. The patient was in the arc of police when personnel arrived on the sane with Bang ambulance. CHFD had no patient contact All patient care was handled by Bang who transported the patient to Cayuga Medical Center. CHFD was released by Bangs. 000134.00 041182002 23:12 SUNSETDRIVE EMS only 8 1PCR#4. 32924311 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS persormel responded to an emergency medial all at the above location for a report of an elderly male wfio fell. Personnel arrived at the scene and found an elderly male (D.O.B. 01 -03 -11) lying on the floor, conscious, and complaining of right hip and leg pain. The family reported the patient fell out of bed History, assessment and care were done. Deformity and pain on palpation were noted in the ara of the right hip and upper femur (leg). Dang was also on the scene and provided all patient arc. CHFD had no patient contact. 000136 -00 041192002 11:48 n NORTH TRIPHAMMER EMSonly 6 [PCR#4- 8041262] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS responded to an emergency medical all at the above location Personnel arrived at the scene and found an conscious elderly f rmale (D.O.B. 0140-16) sated and in the are of Kendal staff complaining of weakness and fatigue. Staff reported that the patient had lost consciousness prior to the arrival of CHFD. The patient became unresponsive briefly and then responded to verbal stimulus. History and assmment were done. Units were returned to service. 000139 -00 04222002 08:10 PLANTATIONS ROAD EMS only 5 [PCR #4. 8041258] Cayuga Heights FitelEMS responded to an emergency medical all at the above location, reporting a female wfio had fallen and a possible back injury. Personnel arrived at the scene and found a female patient in the care of Bang ambulance personnel. All patient are handled by Bang ambulance. CHFD stood by at the above location while IFD stood by at the scene. 000141 -00 04232002 14:51 SIMSBURY DRIVE Good intent call 10 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to the above location for a rescue call (child locked in bathroom. There was no patient contact The call was cancelled by #262 (riding with Bang). 000142 -00 04/24/2002 11:38 - - -- NORTH TRIPHAMMER - EMS only 6 [PCR #4. 8041290] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medial all at the above Location reporting an elderly woman experiencing difficulty braking. Personnel arrived at the scene and found the female patient in the cue of Bang ambulance personnel. Personel arrived at the scene, investigated the surrounding areas and found no snake or fire. It was determined that a child had called 911. The child's mother stated that the child's medical condition hinders his ability to understand impact and consequences of actions.
