Monthly Report-April, 2002
During the Month of April, the Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to twenty -
one medical emergencies and seventeen fire related calls. Of the calls, fourteen were in
the Town of Ithaca and twenty were in the Village. The fire department also provided
mutual aid assistance three times during the month. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department
received mutual aid assistance one time.
The Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to a structure fire in the Town of Ithaca.
Upon arrival the garage of the structure was engulfed in fire. The fire was quickly
extinguished preventing it from spreading to the attached apartment structure.
One engine was called from Ithaca to provide mutual aid assistance at the fire scene.
The fire department responded to three mutual aid calls. One to Lansing, one to Ithaca
and one to Varna.

fracture. Personnel arrived at the scene and found Bangs ambulance personnel in command. The all was cancelled by Bangs when CHFD
arrived in the patient's room All patient care handled by Bangs ambulance.

Cayuga Height Fire Department personnel were called for a mutual aid to Varna, for a fire alarm activation, at the above location. The all was
cancelled by Varna.

[PCR #4. 8041284] Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to a mutual aid emergency all, at the above location. Personnel arrived at
the sane and found a male patient lying on the floor in cardiac arrest in the are of Lansing EMS and Bangs. All patient are, at the scene, was
in progress and handled by Lansing EMS and Bangs ambulance personnel. CHFD assisted with loading patient into the ambulance. CHFD EMT
Updike drove the ambulance to the hospital and EMT Weissman performed compressions enroute to the hospital.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for a reported rue in the garage of a house, with electrical what involved. Personnel
arrived at the scene and found a four -unit apartment with fire visable from the back and roof of the gaage. CHFD 202 crew initiated the attack
with wwater supply by 231 and called one engine mutual aid from Ithaca Fin Department The rue was controlled, (limited to the garage area,
and extinguished Crews overhauled and checked for extension. Tompkins County SheritG Department will investigate the am. The salvage
team covered the windows and secured the building.

Cayuga Height Fire Department personnel responded to a call for a hazardous condition (food left on unattended stove), at the above location
Personnel arrived at the sane and found the stove off. The pan of food was removed and units were returned to service.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department were called for a fire alarm activation at the above location Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated,
found the activated had was in the first Boor eating area, above the stain to the basement Had was cleaned, replaced and system was react

have the system and heads serviced

scene and found an elderly female (D.O.B. 11-18-14) lying on the Boor. Patient reported that she had had a sudden onset of weakness and fell
and stated that she felt weak and that her vision was blurry. History, assessment and are were done and then all patient was transferred to

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for arm alarm activation at the above location. Personnel& arrived al the sane,
investigated, and determined that the activation was due to water dripping through the coke detector. The zone was isolated and the occupants
were notified to all service for repairs.

scene and found a 27 yar-old female, in the arc of Bugs ambulance personnel, complaining of right hip pain. All patient arc was handled by
Bugs. CHFD assisted with lifting and moving the stretcher to the ambulance.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to an alarm at the above location. Personnel arrived at the sane, and found #418 on the
scene and in contact with dispatch. The alarm was activated because of a malfunction with the phone line. #418 silenced the alarm and cleared
CHFD.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel responded to a rue alarm activation at the above location. Personnel arrived at the scene,
investigated, and determined that the alum activation was caused by the buffer in use. CHFD was unable to react because of an alarm
malfunction, possibly a bad back up battery. Maintenance was advised to contact the alarm company. The dialer was turned off and
maintenance was advised to form a fire watch until the alarm system was fixed.

health problem with injury. The patient was in the are of police when personnel arrived on the scene with Bangs ambulance. CHFD had no

IPCR #4. 32924311 Cayuga Heights Fire/EMS personnel responded to an emergency medical all at the above location for a report oran elderly
male wfio fell. Personnel arrived at the scene and found an elderly male (D.O.B. 01 -03.11) lying on the floor, conscious, and complaining of
right hip and leg pain. The family reported the patient fell out of bed History, assessment and we were done. Deformity, and pain on
palpation were noted in the area of the right hip and upper femur (leg). Patient are was transfered to Bangs ambulance who transported

found an conscious elderly female (D.O.B. 01.20 -16) sated and in the care or Kendal stag complaining of weakness and fatigue. Staff
reported that the patient had lost consciousness prior to the arrival of CHFD. The patient became unresponsive briefly and then responded to
verbal stimulus. History, assessment and arc were done. All patient are war transferred to Bangs ambulance who transported

woman experiencing difficulty breating. Personnel arrived at the sane and found the female patient in the care of Bangs arnbulmm personnel.
All patient are handled by Bangs who unruported the patient to Cayuga Medial Center.

backward and hitting his had while walking with a walker. A three inch laceration on the back of the had was noted History, assesssment and
are were done. Patient are was tansfered to Bangs ambulance personnel.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for an unknown fire at 101 Warwick Place. Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated
the surrounding areas and found no smoke or fire. It was determined that a child had called 911. The child's mother stated that the child's
medial condition hinders his ability to understand impact and consequences of actions. CHFD and CHPD officer spoke with mother and child

investigated the structure and found no fire or fire conditions. There was a pow" outage upon investigation and the DPW alarm was not
activated or operating properly.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department personnel were called for a hazardous condition (tree limb and wires down and across road) at the above
location Personnel arrived at the scene, investigated, found no fire or sparking, contacted NYSEG, and closed the road. NYSEG removed the
hazard and repaired the wires.

Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to a grease fire at the above location The pan was carried outside and the fire was extinguished with
kitty litter by the occupant , who was the CHFD officer in charge. CHFD brought a fen to the scene to help remove the smoke. Personnel
investigated and found no extension to walls or cabinets.

scene and male patient (D.O.B. 04-05 -74) standing and complaining of stomach pain and right forearm pain resulting from a bike accident
Right abdominal tenderness and rib tendemess reported with palpation and abdominal distention noted Right elbow swelling, laceration, and
pain with palpation were also noted History, assessment, and vital signs were done. Patient care was transferred to Bangs ambulance personnel
without incident.
