Lynn Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights From: Report of the Police Department for March 2002 For the month of March there were a total of 136 complaints reported to the police department and 2 motor vehicle accidents investigated. There were a total of 132 traffic tickets issued and 13 parking tickets written. ' During March there was no felony complaints reported. There were nine misdemeanor complaints reported to this department: five for Petit Larceny, one for Criminal Mischief, one for Criminal Trespass and two for Aggravated Harassment. Two of the larcenies were theft of items from unlocked motor vehicles. One complaint was the theft of an electric meter which was removed from the outside of a house that is presently under construction. A Kendal resident reported jewelry missing from her room. A resident reported a ping pong table stolen from his carport. While on patrol an officer observed one of the glass windows in a door at the Cayuga Heights School had been shattered by a type of pellet. School maintenance personnel were notified of the Criminal Mischief complaint and responded to the school to put up plastic for a temporary fix. The Criminal Trespass was reported when a subject forcibly entered her parents' home by breaking a window after being told that she could not be there when no one was home and without permission. The case resulted in the subject's arrest. One Aggravated Harassment case was the report of a resident receiving numerous no answer phone calls over a three day period. The complainant contacted the annoyance bureau and as of this date, no further calls have been received. The complainant in the second Aggravated Harassment received a threatening phone call similar to one received a year ago. There were three violations reported, all Disorderly Conduct complaints. Two were complaints of loud music being played. The third Disorderly Conduct was a report of a male subject kicking garbage cans. The parent of the subject was advised of the incident. There were four complaints involving Village Ordinances during the month of March. Three of the complaints were about dogs and one was about a subject soliciting without a permit. There were eight Vehicle & Traffic complaints, three about parking and eight for various infractions. There were 112 miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of March. During the month of March Officer Lanning attended a "Street Survival School" which was held in Buffalo. The school dealt with the latest arrest techniques and police safety issues. Also during March, Officer Lanning, Officer Steinmetz and I conducted School Safety Drills at the Cayuga Heights School with the teachers. It was held on a scheduled conference day when the students were not in attendance. The drills practiced bombs, armed intruders and weather related emergencies. During the month of March the full time officers worked 68.5 hours of overtime and the part -time officers worked 216 hours. There was a total of 5820 in property lost or stolen for the month.
