Anderson Members of the Board of Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights From: Report of the Police Department of August 2001 For the month of August there were a total of 114 complaints reported to the police department and 4 motor vehicle accidents investigated. There were a total of 96 traffic tickets issued and 30 parking tickets written. During August there were two felony complaints reported: one for Burglary which was later determined to be unfounded and one for Grand Larceny which was the theft of a Rolex watch stolen from an unlocked storage area in an apartment building. There were twelve misdemeanor complaints reported to this department: eight for Petit Larceny, two for Criminal Mischief, one for Assault and one for Criminal Contempt. Two of the Petit Larcenies were thefts of CDs and gloves from unlocked vehicles. There was also a report of folding lawn chairs taken from an unlocked camper. Five of the Petit Larcenies occurred at Kendal of Ithaca: four complaints of cash stolen and one complaint of missing jewelry. Due to the ongoing number of thefts reported from Kendal residents, once again I have been meeting with the head of Health Services to improve the incident reporting. The lapse between the time of the theft and the reporting of the theft to this department has been a hindrance to the police investigations. One Criminal Mischief reported was the dumping of white paint on a couple of apartment doors and also on a vehicle parked in the apartment parking lot. The other Criminal Mischief was a report of a resident's mailbox being knocked over by an unknown subject. The Criminal Contempt case was reported when a subject disobeyed an order of protection. A complaint was filed and the subject responsible is to appear at court, failing to do so will result in a warrant issued. The Assault case resulted from an altercation between two Cornell students. The case is still under investigation with an arrest pending. There were five violations reported for the month of August: four for Disorderly Conduct and one for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. Two of the Disorderly Conduct complaints were reports of loud music playing and the other two complaints involved subjects arguing noisily. All complaints were handled and resolved without further problems. The Unlawful Possession of Marihuana resulted in a subject's arrest. There were five complaints involving Village Ordinances: four involving problems with dogs and one for soliciting without a permit. There were seven Vehicle and Traffic complaints: two arrests for Driving While Intoxicated, two for Parking Violations and three for miscellaneous traffic problems. There were eight -three miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for the month of August. The new patrol car was put into service during the month of August. During the month of August the full time officers worked 96.5 hours of overtime and the part-time officers worked 175 hours.
