Monthly Report — August
During the Month of August, the Cayuga Heights Fire Department responded to eleven
medical emergencies and fifteen fire related calls. Of the calls, eight were in the Town of
Ithaca and fifteen were in the Village. The fire department also provided mutual aid
assistance three times during the month. The Cayuga Heights Fire Department received
no mutual aid assistance.
During the last month, the fire department has recruited ten new members within the
department. Many of the new members are college students who are trained or being
trained as EMT's. At the present time there has also been an increase in bunkers living at
the station. Presently there are seven bunkers with two additional applications pending.
At the end of September, the fire department will be conducting new member training
which consists of a two -day in -house course. This training is conduct twice a year for
new members. The training consists of CPR, department policies, hose lays, SCBA and a
live burn at the training tower.
