From: Report of the Police Department for June 2001
For the month of June there were a total of 86 complaints reported to the police department and 3 motor
vehicle accidents investigated. There were a total of 59 traffic tickets issued and 10 parking tickets written.
During June there were four felony complaints reported. One was a burglary in which entry was made into
a sorority through an open window. Taken in the burglary were a can of soup and a pair of sneakers. A
grand larceny occurred when an unlocked vehicle was entered; taken was a camera and the owner's wallet
containing credit cards. The Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument occurred when a complainant
reported a check made out to him was deposited in an account after being endorsed with his name by
another person. The final felony reported was a vehicle theft. The vehicle, with the keys in the glovebox,
was taken from the owner's driveway and recovered the next day outside of the village. All four felony
cases are still under investigation at this time. There were nine misdemeanors complaints reported: one for
Issuing a Bad Check, five for Petit Larceny, two for Criminal Mischief and one for Theft of Services.
Residents at Kendal of Ithaca reported two of the Petit Larcenies, both reported cash stolen from their
rooms. One Petit Larceny was the theft of a cell phone from an unlocked vehicle. The other two
complaints were items stolen from residents' yards; a planter and a garbage can lid. One Criminal Mischief
complaint was the report of a mailbox knocked down by an unknown vehicle and the other was damage
done to a resident's yard by a juvenile. The Theft of Service complaint was the result of a resident's credit
card number being used by an unknown subject to purchase items on the internet. The investigation is still
continuing. There were two Violations reported for the month of June: one for Disorderly Conduct and one
for Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The Disorderly Conduct complaint was the report of an object
burning in the roadway. It was found that an unknown subject had sprayed some sort of paint thinner
across the road setting it on tire. The Unlawful Possession of Marihuana resulted in the arrest of a twenty-
year old mate. There were four complaints involving Village Ordinances: One for Park After Hours, one
for littering and two for dog problems. One dog owner was arrested for an unrestrained dog, which did
attack and bite another dog. The complaint for being in the park after hours resulted in the arrest Qf two
subjects. For the month of June there were three Vehicle and Traffic complaints with one arrest made for
Driving While Intoxicated. There were sixty-four miscellaneous complaints handled by this department for
the month. A twenty-four year old male was arrested on a warrant for Petit Larceny for a case that was
reported in May.

School. Bike rodeos were held at both schools. Officer Day conducted the classroom instructions on
bicycle safety. Officer Cain and Steinmetz assisted Officer Day with the outdoor rodeo. All officers_
participated in the mandatory fuearms training.
During the month of June the full time officers worked 112 hours of overtime and the part-time officers
