In addition to these calls, 67 uniform traffic tickets were issued and 11 parking tickets were written. A breakdown of the calls for service is as follows: The department received 2 felony complaints of burglary. These 2 incidents were reported to have taken place on October 19th; however one was not reported until October 23 rd due to the resident not noticing anything missing right away. Both residents reported items taken from the bedroom. There are no suspects and the investigation is still in progress. The department utilized the Village’s crime alert and email blast resources to notify residents and other village employees of these reported incidents. There were 3 calls for misdemeanors reported: 2 for larceny, and 1 for fraud. One larceny was reported as a laptop being stolen out of a classroom at Cayuga Heights School. The other occurred at Kendall of Ithaca. Money in the form of cash and checks was reported stolen. There are no suspects in either case. The report of fraud was received as a bad check complaint. The suspect was notified of the matter and responded to CHPD to pay restitution; no charges were sought by the complainant. A total of 4 violations were reported: 3 for harassment, and 1 for unlawful possession of marijuana. Of the 3 harassment complaints, 2 involved cell phones. One was a report of several phone calls being received from an unknown subject using foul language. The other was of text messages being sent to a juvenile female by a 21 year old male. The suspect in this case is a known repeat offender. Investigation is ongoing. The 3rd harassment complaint was made by an anonymous female caller who left a message on the department phone stating that she wanted to report inappropriate and harassing behavior being displayed by drivers of a local cab company. The company was notified by CHPD and nothing further has been reported. The incident of UPM began as a domestic incident which occurred outside of the Village of Cayuga Heights. 2 subjects came to CHPD to report t he dispute, upon investigation the male disclosed that he was in possession of marijuana. An arrest was made and the defendant was later turned over to the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department for further investigation of the domestic incident. There were also 4 Local Law violations investigated: 3 for noise and 1 for being in the park after hours. The first complaint of noise involved loud music coming from a vehicle parked in a driveway. Upon officers arrival the vehicle was no longer at the residence. A second report of noise came in as gun shots in the area. The officer on duty responded to the location and determined the shots to be fireworks in the distance. The last noise complaint was reported as a barking dog. Contact was made with the dog’s o wner; no further reports have been made. The remaining violation involved 4 teenagers in the park after hours. They were each issued appearance tickets and released. In summary there were 5 total arrests made: 1 for Unlawful possession of marijuana and 4 for being in the park after hours. There were 7 Motor vehicle accidents investigated, 2 of which were involving deer. There were 3 additional incidents in which deer were involved. On October 2nd full time and part time officers completed the annual low light firearms qualifications. The Department participated with the annual Cayuga Heights Fire Department open house on October 20th. Officers set up a DARE table along with patrol vehicle 125. The full time officers worked a total of 34.5 hours of overtime and the part time officers worked a total of 89 hours.
