Re: Report Dfthe Police Department for April 2012
During the men h of April,there were 246 complaints reported to the police department There were also 5
motor vehicle as cidents investigated.There were 81 traffic tickets issued and 17 parking tickets written.
There were no tinny incidents reported in the month of April.
There were 3 n isdemeanors reported: I for larceny and 2 for fraud. The larceny was reported from a
newspaper delix cry person who noticed some mail belonging to a resident had been strewn about on the
ground. "1'he of icer on duty contacted the resident and she advised him that a package had been stolen
along with oche various pieces of mail. There are no suspects at this time.One of the fraud complaints was
reported from i n elderly resident who stated someone called her telling her they were going to be
delivering a pad age to her that contained money she had won and advised her to be home at a certain time.
There was nos h package and the officer on duty watched the home during this time period to make sure
nothing suspicic us occurred. It is unknown who the suspect is. The other fraud report was taken from a
village resident who stated he had gone to file his federal taxes and was advised someone had used his
social security n imber and already filed them. He is not sure who the suspect is but the IRS is aware of the
incident as well.
There were 6 vh lations reported:4 for noise, I for harassment,and I for trespassing.The noise complaints
were all handled appropriately with no further issues.The harassment was a complaint from a resident who
was receiving u wanted email and other communication from an estranged husband. The incident was
handled and a r port was written. The trespassing complaint was found by an officer on duty. The officer
pulled into the s hool parking lot and came across a vehicle that had been parked in the lot. The occupants
were advised to eave,and they did so with no problems.
There was one 1 cal law violation reported in the month of April for dog control. Someone had reported a
loose dog in the wea.The officer found the dog and returned it to its rightful owners.
There was one nest made. An officer had made a traffic stop and upon investigation, the driver of the
vehicle was too id to have had a warrant with the Village of Cayuga Heights. This matter was handled
without any pool lens.
There was one r ported deer accident and no reported deer incidents in the month of April.
Between April I a and April 12th,all officers took part in the escort and funeral services for fallen Marine
Corporal Bordo i. On April 7"i,Officer Lansing participated in the annual Easier Egg Hunt in Trumansburg
for Cops,Kids, d Toys.Officer Lansing was present in uniform and had a department vehicle with him to
answer question .
During the mom i of April, the full time officers worked a total of 43.5 hours of overtime and the par[time
officers worked total of 129 hours.
