Re: Report of the Police Department for July 2012
During the month of July,there were 266 complaints reported to the police department. There were also 7
motor vehicle accidents investigated.There were 98 traffic tickets issued and 12 parking tickets written.
There was I felony incident reported in the month of July for Robbery. A local business reported they had
been robbed.This investigation is still ongoing.
There were 6 misdemeanors reported: I for larceny,2 for scheme to defraud, and 3 for criminal mischief.
7'he larceny was reported from the maintenance person for the Carriage House Apartments. He reported
that copper piping had been cut and stolen from a few of the washing machines in the laundry room.This is
an ongoing investigation. One of the fraud cases was a report of illegal use of a credit card. There are no
suspects in this case. The second fraud case was involving a village resident who had found out a credit
card was opened in their name and merchandise had been charged and ordered. This is an ongoing
investigation as well.Two of the criminal mischief incidents were a complaint from the same resident who
had found holes which look to be from a BB gun in a few of his windows. There are no suspects at this
time. The last criminal mischief was a report of a resident's mail box that had been knocked off of its post.
There are no suspects and no one has any idea how it occurred.
There were 2 violations reported, I for noise and I for harassment. The noise complaint was handled
appropriately by the officer with no further problems.The harassment was a report of a dispute between ex-
partners. When the officer arrived, one party had already left and the other did not want to press charges.
This case is closed.
There was I local law violation reported in the month of July for dog control. A resident called to report a
stray dog was found on their front porch. The officer responded and took the dog to the SPCA without
incident.
There were no arrests made in July.
There was I reported deer accidents and 2 reported deer incidents.
In the month of July Chief Steinmetz and Officer Lanning attended an Officer Involved Shooting Seminar.
'this seminar was geared towards the officers and how they react to officer involved shootings; the
aftermath of those types of incidents including debriefing and counseling.
During the month of July, the full time officers worked a total of 76 hours of overtime and the part time
officers worked a total of22t hours.
