Law Enforcement Administration & Operations Consultant
Over the span of 30 years, nearly half of which was in an executive level rank, Douglas
Robertson has become one of New York States leading expert in the operation and
administration of modern day law enforcement agencies.
In 1990 he was named program manger for the North Syracuse Police Department’s
accreditation initiative and as Chief of the Dryden Police Department he led the
department to become the only State Accredited law enforcement agency in the region
in 2000.
As a consultant he has reviewed the policies and procedures of numerous police and
sheriff’s department around the state including:
Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office
Town of Clay Police
Village of Skaneateles Police
Owego Village Police
City of Mechanicville Police and many more.
Recognizing his expertise in law enforcement operations, former Governor George
Pataki appointed Robertson to a seat on the New York State Law Enforcement
Accreditation Council. The Accreditation Council provides overall direction and consists
of 17 members appointed by the Governor. The Council meets quarterly and issues
standards, sets policy and has exclusive authority to grant accreditation status.
The primary goal of the assessment being proposed by Chief Steinmentz is to insure that
the Cayuga Heights Police are following policies and procedures that reflect today’s best
practices thereby reducing risk to the municipality and its residents.
I look forward to the opportunity to work with Chief Steinmetz and the members of the
Village board to insure that the village police department continues to operate under
the highest standards of the law enforcement profession.
