Re:PossiblyMovingthev'illageolicayugal-fleightsElectionDatefromtheThirdTuesdayinMarch
to Election DaY in Novemlrer
Dear Elizabeth and Steve,
May I ask a few questions regarding the possibility of moving the cayuga Heights election date to the
national election date in November'
In favor of doing so are sruch fact, ors as-: likely it"t:'"?ll^voter turnout' possible savings in the annual
Village election cost paid to the cournty BOE; and better campaigning weather in the fall'
I understan<J from referencing the section on Vitage Erections in the state election law on-line that we're
too late to change the date oT the coming M"r"h i"or2 election, given that any change of date does not
i;k";rr;;i,ntirIn" i;rT:i;.iililil *Jr" il"'.' rzo o.vr anei t-ne adoption or that chanse'
Here are mv questions, Please:
Gan we simply change tfre date try a proposition vote of the Village Board of Trustees?
Howmuchmoneywou|dwesavewithinthecostcurrent|ybil|edbytheCountyBoEtotheVi|lage
every year?
And,shou|rcweadoptsuclrachang.e.of.electiondatefromMarchtoNovemberin,sav.thenextsix
months, how woutd that r;hange ,ette"tiiJ'ie;d"; :iI-",'",iils-of office of current Board members
- both those Trustees who were el,ected ior two lear terms in March 2011, and the Mayor and Trustees
to be elected in March 2o1z? (l,mr admitiJorv rra'uing a little trouble understanding Article 15-104-2' page

What do You both think of the idea?
Have other villages that you are aware of made such a change?
Are there additional pros; and cons for us to consider? | am wondering if mov.ing the date to November
wourd necessitate voting by districts, in oin"r,oroi oivroing the viilage into three poiling praces as
was the case last week? That would o" aw1*aio.

with thanks for Your time'
