As many of you know, Tim and I put in extensive flower borders years
ago. We put rsome in the front for the benefit of passersby. It wasn't
long br:fore \ /e had to build a fence, and soon found out it had to be up
all year long. I've been speaking out for fences for a long time now, and
am beginning to feel like a broken record, having said from the
beginrring it rvould take a LONG time for the Village to implement deer
remediation. During these last 2 years, the Board has worked hard *
contacting professionals, filling out paperwork, holding public hearings,
planning for the million dollar tax increase, and maybe even facing legal
action. But i1['s been 2 years and though progress has been made,
there's still no Resolution and no reduction in the deer herd.
That's why Villagers should be allowed to erect their own fences NOW
as a way of'protecting their own properties" Fences are budget
neutral: require NO tax dollars; protect a property from deer scat;
keep small ctrildren and pets in and large wildlife out!
What is controversial about that?
In addition, since L954,large property owners have had the space to
build fences of any height or composition within the setback rules.
Small property owners have not.
Where is the fairness in that?
In conr:lusion, I'd like to mention the anti-fencing petition which
recent.ly we'nt round with the implication that anyone who backed
updating ttre 1954 ordinance was against deer remediation.
I ask the Boatrd to recognize this as a blatant misrepresentation of
the truth.
Thank.you,
