Re: Report of the Police Department for May 2011
During the month of May, there were 252 complaints reported to the police department. There were also 7
motor vehicle accidents investigated.There were 56 traffic tickets issued and 19 parking tickets written.
There were no felony complaints reported for the month of May.
There were 8 misdemeanors reported, 7 for larceny the I for fraud. Three of the reported larcenies were
items stolen from unlocked vehicles. 'There are no suspects in these cases. Two of the reported larcenies
were street signs that had been stolen and have yet to be recovered. There are also no suspects in these
cases. One was a report of a laptop computer stolen from a residence. The victim listed a possible suspect
and the officer is still investigating the incident. The last larceny was a report of a DPW traffic cone that
had been stolen. The officer was in the area and caught the suspect in the act The suspect is scheduled to
appear in court. The fraud case was reported by an elderly couple who said they were contacted by an
unknown person about receiving a large sum of money. They were told to send a certain amount of money
and in return they would receive the large sum of money. The victims did send the money but got nothing
in return.The officer is still investigating this case.
There were 4 violations reported in the month of May: all for disorderly conduct. Three of the disorderly
conduct incidents were reports of excessive noise. All three incidents were handled appropriately with no
further problems. There was also a report of a resident who had found garbage had been placed inside his
mailbox. The resident had no suspects and did not wish to make a formal report, rather, just wanted make
the police department aware of what happened.
In the month of May,all officers attended firearms training.
During the month of May, the full time o0cers worked a total of 69 hours of overtime and the part time
officers worked a total of211 hours.
