Statement from Sally Grubb, sally.grubb@gmail.com, 104 Midway Rd
As I am sure you are aware, Elizabeth Mount and I, together with an increasing
number of other Villagers, have been working for some time now to have the
Village Fencing Ordinance, revised to reflect the Village as it is today, and the
needs of property owners. We believe property owners should have the right to
protect their privacy, (as has been granted to Trustee Szekely recently), pets, small
children, and landscapes, no matter the size or other limitations of our properties.
We have three goals.
1. to persuade you the Trustees to update the poorly written, confusing, and
randomly enforced ordinance;
2. to be exempt from enforcement until the ordinance has been updated, and,
3. again like Trustee Szekely, to be able to keep our own fences.
We have consulted a specialist in municipal law to get legal advice on how to best
procede.
We are handing you today a proposed new Fencing Ordinance which includes a
definition of what is considered to be a fence. We will send it to you electronically
as well. We ask you to please review this carefully before making any further
decisions on fences. Also please remember that we do not consider a revised
Fencing Ordinance to be an alternative to Deer Remediation
