The PZP vaccine was shown to block pregnancies in captive white-tailed deer as early as 1990.
Since that time, numerous projects have been mounted with free-roaming deer in MD, NJ, NY,
CT, WA,VA and OH. The two largest projects are on Fire Island National Seashore, NY, where
approximately 215 deer are treated annually over a 6 year period, and on the campus of the
National Institute of Standards and Technology, in MD, where more than 150 deer have been
treated over a 8 year period.
Published documents in peer reviewed journals establish it as a sound fertility inhibitor.
Articles are published in a number of scholarly journals that can be found in public libraries.

Montana; and from I.K. Liu at University of California, Davis.
From Humane Society Website:One-shot PZP vaccines that last two or more years have been
tested successfully on wild horses, deer and other species by The HSUS and other investigators.
One technology used successfully by The HSUS and its collaborators involves packaging PZP in
timed-release pellets, which stimulate annual boosters. Spay-Vace, a different PZP vaccine
produced by Immuno Vaccine Technologies in Nova Scotia, has also demonstrated one-shot,
long-term effectiveness in studies involving a variety of species, including deer. One-shot
procedures are rapidly becoming standard.
