HomeMy WebLinkAboutD. Naydich- deer.pdf I am Dimitri Naydich, a Cayuga Heights resident of 10 years. D er regularly come/through our
yard where my wife and I planted shrubs, trees, and flowers.X to eat them, but we have
mostly fixed the problem by replanting and net fencing. I think fencing is the best way to fix the deer
gardening problem. In general I think that the current village plan unjustifiably rushes to killing the
deer. I find the data in the DEIS report that supports the decision very incomplete and controversial.
I found plenty of scientific data on the internet that contradict the report's findings on traffic and ticks
and support the effectiveness of non-lethal methods. Why not try those first to see if they make
culling unnecessary here? See for example what's happened in Essex County, NJ. T i s mmer,
after 3 years of intensive culling they started installing road reflectors anyway. Isn'tft ards?
Finally let me say that I'm utterly appalled by the mayor's intent to use the net and bolt method for
deer culling which is widely acknowledged as totally inhumane. Thank you.
