Meetings of the Board of l'rustees of the vil^l3ge of cayuga Heights take place in accordancewith New York State.law, f-or the purpose of v-illage gou.?nunr.. Meetings are convened by theMayor or by an appointed ,Jeputy.' '
Discussion takes place among the members of the Board with the village professional staff.Minutes are recorded by the clerk. As provided in the New york state open Meetings Law, allBoard meetings are open to the public, and members of the public are very welcome to attend.Although not required by.l:t{, the Jvlayor and the Trustees oi cuyugu Heights offer privilege ofthe Floor in order to provide individuals in the audience with the opportunity to voice theiropinion on Village affairs.
In the interest of expediting;the flow of village business during its lengthy meetings, privilege ofthe Floor is open fcrr 30. miirutes only, ordinaiiry rotto*ingrany scheduledpublic Hearings.Fifteen (15) minutes prior to the commencement of any regularly scheduled Board of Trustee,smeeting, a sign-in sheet will be placed on a table inside the-meeting room. upon arrival, allattendees are requested to sign in, indicating if they wish to speak. The speakers may give theirname and address if they choose. If a tp"uku does not want to provide tireir name, they mustsign in as o'Anonyntous speaker" and then they ur" r"rponritt" ror. remembering the numberassociated with their place on the list.
Attendees will be called to speak in the order shown on the sign-in sheet on a first come, first tospeak basis.
speakers are asked to stand unless prevented by a disability, to give their name and address ifthey so choose, and must limit theii remarks to two minutes'of time. please notrlnut a speaker,stime may not be yielded to other speakers.
speakcrs are requested to observestandards ofcourtesy and good taste and may be asked toterminate remarks at ayry time by the Mayor or another presiiing officer. Audience members arelked not to engage with ther speaker, or with each other.
The Village clerk keeps time and gives notice when 30 seconds are remaining. occasionally,
loard members may ask a s;peakeifor clarification.
Speakers are very welcome t;o submit their comments to the Board in writing for considerationand attachment to the meetirrg minutes. The minutes will include all the speakers, names, ifprovided by the speaker, with a brief statement of their positions.Although the public is only invited to speak during privilege of the Floor, the Board may, at itsdiscretion, allow the public to speak at other timesl Speake"rs must be recognized by the Mayor orby another presiding officer.
