HomeMy WebLinkAboutDec 12 2011 mtg appendix B.pdf Petition Presented to Trustees of the Village of Cayuga Heights Nov. 14, 2011 We the undersigned, petition the elected officials of The Village of Cayuga Heights to enact regulations that will restrict large commercial vehicles to Triphammer Road and Pleasant Grove Road. Solving the problem of north south transit will reduce expensive maintenance on Village roads that were not designed for large truck and bus traffic, and will minimize noise in residential areas. This would not, in any way, keep vehicles from using village streets to deliver goods and services to village residents. These regulations should be in place by January 1, 2012. As a long time resident of Cayjga Heights,I strongly oppose the use of firearms in the Village unless the firearms are used b,,our ewn police to protect people in the village. I am opposed to the use of contracted firearms for followin.y reasons: (1)Danger to the population inc'uding our children and elderly-and our beloved pets. (2)The violence which the ase of such firearms create. (3)Village residents are often oi.t at any )our cf the day or night--whether it be for an early morning jog or a late evening moonligtt stroll. Nc one should have to hover in their house due to fear of stray bullets or the fear of experiencing, the violence caused by firearms in the hands of professional killers. (4) If we loosen the law for contracted Ulers does this mean that all of us can or should bear arms? (5)Citizens who respect and revere life w;ll be traumatized by finding injured or dead animals in their yards. It would ncleed oe a miracle if all animals are killed quickly and cleanly. This is an especially threatening atmospher;.! in whit.i to brine up our children. (6)The use of gc.ns, viioi, ante ani: ;filing c+ill have to be repeated year after year--if one truly expects to reduce the nL mber of deer P die village. ('7)Where do we stop? Af:er we kill the deer-do we kill crows because they are noisy, hawks because they prey upon song aims, rabb'is because they eat our vegetables and plants; woodchucks because they devour g2 rdens;chipmunk, and all manner of rodents because they carry ticks and fleas?' Where does the lddling stop? (3)What village service, ar'a nac a:,tied bec)use e:,`the cost of the killing? Reduction in police force? It does seem that :here a e fewer p dicemen out and about than during previous administrations. It would appear that fewer speedin l cars a:a stopped than previously. We still need sidewalks for school children, joggers, walkers,c tc. The many intersections at the Corners are an accident waiting to happen -- have we d tided that: control with traffic lights is too expensive? (9)Are we prepared to say the price for a ccidental injury or death due to the discharge of firearms by outside contractors? (10)What happens tc wll;je of ou r home, if we have bad publicity? If we have people afraid to move to the village? F folka z ,E afraid 9 come here•:roith young children? (12 ) Death is terrifyir g -and cleetPi )y ki ing is especially terrifying-as it reminds us all of the pain and suffering surrounding the death c'a famSly member or dear friend .-Why must we experience the willful taking of life in+rw•quiet: eacefc I,bucolic village? Respectfully- Marne T, acc.:ni, 705 The: Pa -kway FIRST, THANKS TO ANGELA AND KRISTIN FOR POSTING THE ZONING BOARD MEETINGS' MINUTES ON THE VILLAGE WEBSITE. I AM HEREBY REQUESTING THE FOLLOWING: 1. WHAT KATE LEARNED AFTER TALKING WITH THE AIRPORT ADMINISTRATOR REGARDING ILLEGAL TAKE OFFS AND LANDINGS OVER THE VILLAGE; 2. THE REMOVAL OF JACK YOUNG FROM THE ZONING BOARD BECAUSE HIS ATTACKS UPON VILLAGE RESIDENTS AS "ITHACAJACK" AND HIS PRO FRACKING POSITION CREATE IRREPARABLE ETHICAL AND LEGAL CONFLICTS; AND 3. PROOF OF DIANA'S U.S. CITIZENSHIP, PER THE BOARD OF ELECTION'S POSITION THAT IT IS THE DUTY OF THE CLERK TO DETERMINE THE LEGALITY OF ANY ELECTED OFFICIAL, WHICH IS SIMPLE AND EASY TO DO WITHOUT ANY GOOD REASON NOT TO DO SO. ADDITIONALLY, IT IS NECESSARY TO POINT OUT THAT WHEN BOB AND CHRIS CLAIMED THAT THEY WOULD NOT VOTE TO GO FORWARD WITH THE ADDITION UNLESS IT MET ALL EXISTING LAWS AND REGS, THEY KNEW THAT IT DID NOT INCREASE THE PUBLIC MEETING SPACE AND DID NOT ADDRESS THE VARIOUS VIOLATIONS OF THE A.D.A. AND THEREFORE VIOLATES NEW YORK LAW. AND WHEN LIZ EXPLAINED THAT THE PROPOSED FENCE LAW DID IN FACT ALLOW RESIDENTS TO AT LEAST PROTECT THEIR BACK YARDS, SHE KNEW THAT BECAUSE THIS GROUP HAS REFUSED TO DEFINE THE FRONT YARD PROPERTY LINE AS ONLY ONE LINE, AND IMPOSES THE SAME SETBACKS FOR FENCES THAT EXISTS FOR HOUSES, THE NEW FENCE LAW MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO PROTECT EVEN OUR BACK YARDS AND IS DISCRIMINATORY ON ITS FACE AS FRED COWETT'S RESEARCH PROVED. FINALLY, KATE, DIANA, CHRIS AND LIZ SHOULD HONOR THEIR DUTY TO KEEP VILLAGE RESIDENTS INFORMED AND ANNOUNCE WHETHER THEY ARE SEEKING ANOTHER TERM. MINDY MINDLIN
