Highlights of the July 18 Trustees Meeting Privilege of the Floor –
There were comments relating to the plants which deer like to eat, the fence ordinance, and not killing the
deer.
The minutes of the June 13 meeting were approved.
Guest Speaker -
Todd Zwigard spoke about plans for the Marcham Hall addition, made possible in part by a matching grant
of $30,000 from the New York Justice Court Assistance Program to improve the Village’s Justice Court’s
facilities. The Board had previously approved the $30,000 matching funds. They voted to accept the plans
and to take an additional $40,000 from the general fund balance.
Department reports
Fire Chief -
Assistant Superintendent of Public Works
A resolution accepting the bid for the sewer flusher and trailer mounts was asked for and passed.
Superintendent of Public Works -
A resolution was asked for and passed allowing Ned's Pizza to have limited outdoor seasonal seating, April
1 until October 31.
Due to the savings on the purchase of the sewer flusher, the DPW will be able to purchase the 800 mhz
radio frequency for local use, which is also being used by the County, CHPD, and CHFD.
Mayor -
There was a brief description of the browse study which will be conducted by Bernd Blossey, an associate
professor in the Department of Natural Resources at Cornell University. A motion to cover the $1000 cost
of the study was passed.
The Mayor commented on the safety measures which have been put in place near Cayuga Heights School.
In light of these changes and in the interest of maintaining a good working relationship with TCAT, the
Mayor will not pursue any legal actions in the matter of the TCAT Bus #30 route change at this time.
The fence/exclosure issue was revisited.
Police Chief -
The STEP grant and Buckle UP New York grant are the two CHPD have applied for. This is the first year the
CHPD has applied for these grants.
The temporary crosswalks near Cayuga Heights School were made permanent by resolutions.
Clerk -
A resolution was asked for and passed allowing All-Mode to install an upgrade for the telephone system.
The Clerk’s office will be administering the Web site directly and sending monthly VCH e-News items in
the next few months.
Treasurer –
The budget has been filed with the NYS Comptrollers Office.
The Abstract and Supplemental abstract were approved.
Attorney –
A resolution authorizing the Mayor to accept and execute the necessary paperwork for the deed from Mr.
Ciaschi dedicating land at the corner of Pleasant Grove Rd and Hanshaw Rd.
