N.Y. 14850 Fax 607-257-4910 ENGINEER'S REPORT Office Hours 9A.M.-4PM. DATE: August 3, 2011 TO: BOARD OF TRUSTEES FROM: Brent Cross RE: Recent Activity 1. Although we have not been able to have a Public Works Committee meeting to discuss the new radios for the DPW, I have reviewed the quote from Midstate Communications with the Treasurer. I believe that we are in agreement as to the action to pursue, but with Steve on vacation this week, I have not been able to prepare a final proposal ahead of time- Maybe I can discuss this with him on Monday and be prepared with a proposal for the meeting. 2. The proposed local law to revise the sewer billing method will only directly affect the Village "inside customers". Billing of the "outside customers" is done through contractual relationship between the Village and each of the towns. Once the revised law is adopted, we will need to work with the other towns to implement the new billing cycle into our budget. Since the towns budget year cycles are different than the village, then there will need to be some calculating to prorate the billing from the old to new systems- This is a reminder that we have contracts with "outside' municipalities for several different sewer districts, of which most/all of these contracts are expired and in need of renewal- 3. As a preliminary notice, I have had discussions with various people from the Town of Lansing relative to the possible expansion of the Warren Road Sewer District to include a relatively large development of apartments by Rocco Lucente. I have indicated to the Town Engineer that this would require them to request a modification to the existing contract between the Town and the Village of Cayuga Heights for the sewer district. There is no action to take at this point. 4. The Planning Board has recently taken action on two separate subdivision projects: The Upland Road development by Mark Macenas has been granted final approval with a number of conditions. The most significant condition is that he must submit proof of compliance with the US Army Corp of Engineers permitting of disturbance to locally identified wetlands. Therefore, a permit to allow this project to begin is pending the wetlands approval which, according to Mr. Macenas, has not been submitted to USACE yet. Another smaller subdivision between Pleasant Grove Road and Pleasant Grove Lane, by developer Jason Sokoloff, has also received final plat approval. This project does not include the construction of any infrastructure- The approval was conditioned upon the documentation of an agreement between the developer and the Pleasant Grove Lane Homeowner's Association for access to one of the lots that has frontage on the private lane. 5. The redesign of the crosswalk at Kendal's driveway and the new bus stop/shelter have been approved by the appropriate parties. Construction scheduling has been hindered by the lack of availability of the granite curbing installer. Both projects are still expected to be complete this construction season- 6. The design of the Marcham Hall addition project has continued with the Architects submittal of structural roof design elements for me to perform an engineering analysis- For the most part the design will stay substantially as was submitted/approved at the last meeting.
