Between the last two recruiting cycles of Septemb er2009 and January2010 we took in for training 24 new recruits. ar yo" read this, another dozen recruits arebeginning their training. Your support helps the Fire company fulfil our mission of supporting emergencyoperations, recruitment and retention, and public safety education. We love wtrat we do,but permit me a more sober moment. By fir, the leading killer of firefighters is cardiacarrest' As I write this, fire reporting outlets have showrieight firefightei line of dutyceLrdiac events in the last month nation-wide. Sadly, six wJre fatalities, and four of themwere between3T and 56 years old. of the eight, however, trz-,o firefighters were revivedon scene because defibrillators were available.
Because of your generosity last year, the Fire Corhpany was able to buy defibrillators for
I],y.\ 231 and Engine 203. Now arr apparutus callries a defibrillator.
