PURPOSE AND INTENT. The purpose of this Local Law is to amend Section 6, '^s-ne?{ Regulations,,,of the village ofcayugaHeights Traffic control taw, Local Law Number 3 of the year l99r,in order to reduce thernaximum speed limit in the vieinity of a school from trventy (20) miles per hour to fifteen (15) milesper hour' The intent of this Local LLw is to provide that the speed rimit on the portions of the villagestreets adjacent to the cayuga Heights Elementary s.rroor, t'rrose being p"rriJ", "rHanshaw Road,East upland Road and The Farkwiy, are set at a maximum of fifteen (15) miles per hour. SecrroN II. AUTHORITY. This Local Law is enacted pursuant to the grant of powers to local goveilrments provided for in (i)Section 10 ofthe Municipal Home Rule Law to adopt and amend rocal laws not inconsistent with theprovisions of the New York state constitution o, not inconsistent with any general raw relating to itsproperty' affairs, goveilrment or other subjects provided for insaid Section lb of the Municipal HomeRule Law' (ii) Section 10 of the Statute of Local Governments and (iii) Article 5-J of the GeneralMunicipal Law. Spcrrox III. As of the effective date of this Local Law, the following text will replace the entirety of Section 6 ofthe village's Traffic contror Law, Locar Law Number 3 of the year r99r: Section 6: Speed Regulations Maximum Speed timits. Thirty (30) miles per hour is hereby established as the maximum speed limitat which vehicles may-proceed on highways within the corporate limits of the village of cayugaHeights' except (1) NYS--Route 13 uia pl tn".maximum ,p..a limit in the viciniry of a school ishereby established to be fifteen (15) miles per hour for a disiance not to exceed r,320 feetalong allvillage streets and highways adjacent to a sthool, during sct ool days between the hours of 7 o,clocka.m. and 6 o'clock p.m. Page I of 2 SncrroufV. SUPERCEDINGEFFECT. Ail Local Laws, resolutions, rules, regulations and &her enactments ofthe Village of Cayuga Heights in conflict with the provisions of this Local LaW are hereby srhperceded to the extent necessary to give this Local Law fulIforce and effect. i I SBCTIoNV. VALIDITY. The invalidity of any provision of this Local Law shall not affect the validity of any other provision of this Local Law that can be given effect without such inv{lid provision. SBCTIoNVI. EFFECTIVEDATE. This Local Law shall be effective as of the date of filing with the New York Secretary of State. Pagp2 of 2
