Boyce Chief of Police February 3,2010 To: The Honorable Mayor Gilmorle Members of the Board of Tru$tees Village of Cayuga Heights Re: Report of the Police Depaftrn{nt for January 2010 For the month of January, there were ]38 complaints reported to the police department. There were also 9motor vehicle accidents investigated. There were 63 traffic tickets isiued and 6 parking tickets wriften aswell. For the rnonth of January, there were n{ felony complaints repofted" There were a total of 6 misdemeanors rppofied: fbur for petit larceny and two for criminal miscirief. Two ofthe larcenies were similar in nafure. In one circumstance a victim had their wallet stolen ftom their roominside a fraternity house where he livesl In the other circumstance, a victim had their cell phone stolen fromtheir room inside a fraternify house, wliere he lives. Neither victim had any suspect information. A residentrepofted her unsecured vehicle had been entered and some personal iiems'were stolen" There are nosuspects' The last larceny. involved an orange traffic cone that was stolen shortly after being put near apothole to avoid anyone else driving oyer the hole. A resident reporled his mailbox had beeniarnaged byunknown persons. Another resident repbrted her fence had been damaged by unknown persons. There were 4 violations reported for^disorderiy conduct. Three of the violations were noise complaints. Theother violation was an issue with a few village residents and the new TCAT bus route. A resident who wasmoving out of the village had a large mOving truck in their driveway, partially sticking out into the street. Aresident on the same street parked theirf vehicle opposite the truck, which caused a tiaffic concern for notonlv the TCAT bus, but also emergenciBs vehicles. The way he had parked left no room for a large vehicleto pass through the area. The resident [rad agreed to move his vehicle without any problems. During thetime the offrcer was speaking to the rosident regarding his vehicle being moved,'oih", village residentscame out of their houses to voice their ooncerns with thJ new TCAT route as well. The officer explained tothe residents that this was.,something TCAT had put into effect, not the Village of Cayuga Heights;therefore they should voice their concerhs with TCAT. There were 3 village ordinance complalints received, all were dog control issues. Each issue was handledwithout further problems' During the mbnth of January, there weie l l5 miscellaneous complaints handledwithin the police department. During the month of January, 9-hj..{ Bqv.: attended a one day Glock Armorer receftification course. sgtsteinmetz attended the National Highw4y Traffic Safery Administration child passenger Safety TechnicianTraining course' This was a four day iourse which taught proper safety laws and regulations regardingchild safety seats' officers Lanning and [.ansing attended-a two day Properry/Evidence Room Manasement Course. This course taught the legal ramifications, regarding conducted a tour of the police department, along with finge leaders of tomorrow). All officers in the department conduc enforcement agencies.
