Boyce Chief of(Police March 2,2010 To: The I lonorable Mayor Gilmore Members of the Board of"Trustees Village of Cayuga Heights Re: Report of the Police Department for February 2010 During the month of February, there were 133 complaints reported to the police department.There were 11 motor vehicle accidents investigated as well. There were 43 traffic tickets issued and 15 parking tickets written. There were no felony complaints reported in the month of February. The police department did assist the Ithaca City Police Department (SIU) with a felony drug investigation that occurred within the village of Cayuga Heights. Our officer assisted with apprehending a suspect involved in the case, as well as being present as backup for the situation. There were 2 misdemeanors reported: one for petit larceny and one for aggravated harassment. The petit larceny was a report of a bicycle stolen from the townhouses on Jessup Rd. The bicycle has not been recovered and there are no suspects. The aggravated harassment was reported by an individual who states lie has been receiving numerous emails from someone. The victim did not want to necessarily pursue charges, he just asked that the officer talk to the suspect and advise them to stop sending the emails. That suspect has been told to stop all communication with the victim, she agreed to do so. There were 4 violations reported for disorderly conduct, two of which were noise complaints. One complaint was of a village residence in an apartment complex that could be heard yelling at a small child. The reporting party did not know if there was a child being hurt, therefore they contacted the police department. The officer responded and found this was a verbal altercation and advised the subject to stop yelling at the child. The last complaint was regarding a village resident who had gone into a business and acted in a threatening manner towards employees.That subject was told not to go into that business again. "There were a total of 5 village ordinance complaints received, all of which were dog control issues. Each issue has been handled appropriately. During the month of February, there were a total of 119 complaints handled within the police department. In the month of February, Officer Fanning spoke at The First Congregational Church to local cub scouts about crime prevention and demonstrated fingerprinting. Officer Lansing attended a two day school which will certify him as a taxer instructor. Officer Manning attended a two day course about drug identification. During the month of February the full time officers worked a total of 40.5 hours of overtime and the part time officers worked 143 hours. Sincerely, Thomas L.
