Re: Report of the Police Department for February 20 10
During the month of February, there were 133 complaints repofted to the police departrnent. There were 1 1
mot,or vehicle accidents investisated as well. There were 43 traffic tickets issued and l5 parking tickets
written"
'lhere were no fclony cornplaints repofted in the month of February. The police departntent did assist the
Ithaca City Police Department (SIU) with a felony drug investigation that occurred within the village of
Cayuga Heights. Our officer assisted with apprehending a suspect involved in the case, as well as being
present as backup for the situation.
There were 2 rnisdemeanors repofted: one for petit larceny and one for aggravated harassment. The petit
larcr:ny was a report of a bicycle stolen from the townhouses on Jessup Rd. The bicycle has not been
recovered and there are no suspects. The aggravated harassment was repotled by an individual who states
he has been receiving numerous emails from someone. The victim did not want to necessarily pursue
charges, he just asked that the officer talk to the suspect and advise them to stop sending the emails. That
siusFrect has been told to stop all communication with the victim, she agreed to do so.
'lhere were 4 violations reported for disorderly conduct, two of which were noise complaints. One
cornplaint was of a village residence in an apaftment complex that could be heard yelling at a small child.
'l'he reporting pafty did not know if there was a child being hurt, therefore they contacted the police
departrnent. The officer responded and found this was a verbal altercation and advised the subject to stop
yelling at the child. The last complaint was regarding a village resident who had gone into a business and
acted in a threatening rlanner towards ernployees. That subject was told not to go into that business again.
There were a fotal of 5 village ordinance cornplaints received, all of which were dog control issues" Each
issur: has been handled appropriately. During the month of February, there were a total of I l9 cornplaints
handled within the police department.
In the month of February, Officer I.anning spoke at Tlie First Congregational Chulclt to looal cub scouts
about crime prevention and demonstrated fingerprinting. Officer l,ansing attended a two day school which
will certi! him as a taser instruclor. Offlcer Manning attended a two day course about drug identification.
During the month of February the full time officers worked a total of 40.5 hours of overtirne and tlre part
