Subject: Please follow through on Deer Remediation
Dear Mayor Kate, Thank you and the village board for holding the meeting on the Deer
Remediation Plan last night. As someone who has had to replant endless "deer resistant"
perennials, rebuild legal-height fences that the deer merely trample, pull ticks off
dogs, worry about a grandchild picking up disease from deer feces in our yard, been
threatened by an aggressive 12-point buck while out running, and sustained more than
$1, 500 in damage from a car-deer collision, I heartily support the village's efforts to
reduce the deer population through culling and sterilization. I believe the net and bolt
procedure would be effective while mitigating the danger of firearm use in populated
areas. But ANY solution that involves drastically reducing deer numbers has my full
support and is critical for the health of the Cayuga Heights ecosystem. Please act to
reduce the deer population drastically and do it as soon as possible. Thank you.
