Re: Hearing on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement of Deer Remediation Plan
As a 33 year tax paying resident of Cayuga Heights, I am opposed to the current plans for deer
remediation—which clearly means killing the deer in an inhumane manner.
a) I am afraid of stray bullets and do not want to view injured deer wandering my property or on
the streets.
b) The deer remediation plan will restrict my activities such as walking, biking,jogging or cross-
country skiing in the village and nearby locations.
c) I do not want the children or elderly in Cayuga Heights to be traumatized by the killing or
viewing of injured deer.
d) I will be afraid to have my pets out of doors.
e) I am afraid of stray bullets or injured deer while driving in Cayuga Heights.
f) I do not want to pay taxes for the slaughter of these animals—especially when the village needs
to pay more attention to its infrastructure—and at a time when we need to focus on the safety
and security of our residents. Surely we can use tax money for more important village issues
such as sidewalks,walkways, speed bumps or more traffic lights and so on.
g) I believe we could resolve our deer/car issues by placing speed bumps in Cayuga Heights—just
as did the residents of Forest Home.
h) I believe we can resolve the garden issues by allowing adequate fencing.
i) I am strongly opposed to the deer remediation plan because it divides the residents of Cayuga
Heights into camps—neighbor against neighbor.
j) I believe that this annual killing will reduce property prices and the value of my home.
k) I will not allow deer to be killed within 500 feet of my home.
1) 1 do not want to be alarmed at night or suddenly at home—due to noise and violence associated
with the killing of deer.
m) I believe that baiting and killing deer is unethical and cruel.
n) I do not like being intimidated because I believe it is wrong to kill the deer—it is unpleasant to
live in an atmosphere of pressure and fear.
