PUBLIC HEARING
2018 Fire Budget
Town of Ulysses
November 28, 2017

The meeting was held at the Ulysses Town Hall at 10 Elm Street, Trumansburg.

Board members- Michael Boggs, Rich Goldman, Nancy Zahler
Clerk- Carissa Parlato
Bookkeeper- Nina Thompson

ABSENT:
John Hertzler
OPENING THE PUBLIC HEARING:
Ms. Thomas made a motion to open the public hearing at 6:45p.m., seconded by Mr. Boggs and passed
unanimously. She introduced the other town staff and board members in attendance.
SUPERVISOR’S NARRATIVE:
Ms. Thomas noted that the subject of the hearing was the adoption of the 2018 Fire Contract with the
Village of Trumansburg. The Towns of Covert and Hector also contract with Trumansburg. The
purpose of the hearing was to afford the general public the opportunity to comment on the budget. She
noted that copies of the budget were available in the back of the room by the door.
She further noted:
Tonight’s meeting is a Public Hearing which is a time for the Town Board to listen to comments from
the public on the proposed fire contract.
The proposed contract for the Ulysses portion of fire costs is $230,882.19.
Covert portion = $50,562.59
Hector portion = $17,666.45
Village portion = $ 151,687.77
The towns are required to provide fire protection services for their residents and this contract provides
such services through the Trumansburg Fire Department, maintained by the Village of Trumansburg.
This public hearing was properly noticed in the Ithaca Journal on November 18, 2017.
RECESS:
Ms. Thomas made a motion to recess from 6:48-6:57pm.
ADJOURN:
Ms. Thomas made a motion to clo se the hearing at 6:57pm, seconded by Ms. Zahler and passed
unanimously.
