This house sets within the original settlement of Jacksonville.
Built in 1:94:1, the Barnett house is surrounded by 19th—century
houses. The Barnett house does fit into the scale and. character
of the streetscape formed by the older structures.

Though located within the original settlement of
there does not seem to have been a structure on
to the Barnett house. Neither the 1853 or 1666
Jacksonville show a structure on this property.

18. Barnett House
The Barnett house faces ?ew York State Rr_ute 96. The L-
shaped plan is ooe-and--a-half stories tall the main
body of the house parallel to the road. The house is sided
with wood shingles and has a centrally placed brick chimney.
The douse is cappcd ti.lith a steeply pitche J multi -ruble roof
and sits on a concrete !block foundation with windows in the
basement. The gable roof has plain projecting eaves with
solid verges capping the ends. Flushboard is used as a dec-
orative finish on the surface of the gable end from the roof
line clown to the carved cornice line. l�.ithin this pediment
there is a circulE'r e'1nCiow J vided--into nine lights.
