Set within the original settlement area of Jacksonville, tSie h -use
is surrounded*by various residential structures. Of particular
importance is the fact t5at the Lovelace -house is one of six Greek
Revival structures along NIYS 96 that are of s=imilar scale.

20, HISTORICAL AND ARCHITECTURAL IMPORTANCE:
Setting within the original settlement of Jacksonville, the Lovelace
house is one of the key structures in the early development of the
hamlet.

18. Thou: h the one -and -a -half story house in sided with _asbestos
shingles and few original detEils survive today, the Tompkins
County Real Property Valuation Report documents the house as rating
back to 1660. The Louse appears on tho 1866 Atlas Map, but is
not an the Atlas Rep of 1853, thus this additionzl source generally
confirms the Valuction Report Jute.
The Douse sets on a stone foundation nj is topped with an
asphalt shingle gable roof. The roof trim along the eaves consists
of a plain boxed cornice. The gable en6 has plain returns. The
gable and runs parallel to Route 96. The rain entrance is cen-
trally located, anJ the wooden ,poor is covered with a tin awning.
The door noes not appear to be original. All of the one -over --one

There have been rAtitions on the Knck of the hLa n (151 E.6z'),
and a front stoop.
