UPDATES FROM TOWN SUPERVISOR. KATELIN OLSON:
Greetings, Ulyssians!
We are certainly in the thick of summer right now, when it's sometimes hard to remember that it will
ever cool off again. The rain seems selective where it visits. Hopefully, we will continue to avoid heavy
downpours and stick to gentler showers.
My very favorite thing about August is the bounty of fresh produce. I don't like raw tomatoes from
October to May, but they are simply amazing in the summer. I like to keep my preparation simple.
(Although not as simple as my mom, who is delighted to eat one like an apple with her salt shaker handy.)
Whatever makes you happy that's unique to August, I hope you soak it up, saving up the joy for the colder
seasons ahead.
The Town Board will be convening next Tuesday to tackle a number of important items, and the public is
encouraged to attend either in person or online. The full board packet and Zoom link is available here.
FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS:
The Ulysses Town Board invites community organizations offering services contributing to the health,
safety, and welfare of Town of Ulysses citizens to apply for funds for 2027.
Historically, organizations have requested funding between $500 and $5,000, and have provided senior
services, arts programs, recreation, and more.
The submission deadline is August 9th, 2026.
Link to application: https.L/www.townofulyssesny.gov/ cros/docs/2027-Budget-Community-Org-
Funding-Application-Town-of-Ulysses-v2.pdf
Requests will be reviewed as the Town prepares the 2027 budget; please note that funding is not
guaranteed. Applicants may be asked to give a brief presentation to Town Board members. Funding
notifications will be emailed after passage of the Town's final budget in November.
For more information about the application, contact Teressa Naylor, 2nd Deputy Supervisor, at
tnaylor(@townofulyssesny.gov or call (607)387-5767 ext. 235.

NYS MEDICAL AID IN DYING LAW:
Summary from Assemblymember Anna Kelles:
New York's law allows an eligible, terminally ill adult to receive a prescription for medication that the
person may choose to self-administer. The medication must be taken by the patient themselves. No
physician, nurse, or other person is permitted to administer the medication to the patient.
Medical aid in dying is an option, not an obligation. No patient is required to pursue it, and no health care
provider or facility is required to participate.
