IN THIS WEEK'S ULYSSES NEWSLETTER: Update from Town Supervisor Rabid Cat America at 250 Screening Public Hearings Early Voting & Tuesday Primary UPDATE FROM TOWN SUPERVISOR. KATELIN OLSON: Greetings, Ulyssians! I spent a little time sheltering in my basement yesterday and was glad my house didn't leave without me. Having lived in Tennessee's "tornado alley" for 4 years, I have a healthy respect for these types of weather conditions and my 3- and 5-year-olds were very excited to explore the recesses of our very old basement. Next week the Town Board will be convening to consider a variety of items related to engineering on the Reyolds Road culvert, starting environmental review on designating Smith Woods as a Critical Environmental Area, approving some contracts, and continuing our discussion of the Comprehensive Plan. Public comment period is still open and written comments are still being accepted at clerk townofulyssesnygov. (The full board packet is available here and we will be starting at 6pm.) Housing is an important new chapter in the draft comprehensive plan. which the Town Board will continue to discuss next Tuesday. Having a range of safe, diverse housing options is Ulysses is very important to me and something I will continue to advocate for in the draft comprehensive plan. Just this week I learned that just over 25% of Ulysses households are considered housing burdened, where the costs of housing is putting financial strain on their finances. This data reinforces feedback we received from the community during our comprehensive survey that the #1 source of dissatisfaction in Ulysses was the availability of affordable housing. (i.e. Housing that is affordable in our community, not low-income housing.) This survey information is available on pg. 319 of the draft appendix.) Finally, I extend a warm CONGRATULATIONS to the Trumansbure Conservatory of Fine Arts for their grant re -opening of their beautifully renovated space! RABID CAT FOUND: Tompkins County Whole Health (TCHW) is reporting that a cat found near 121 Pleasant Grove Rd. (Ithaca) on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, was determined to be rabid by the New York State Rabies Laboratory. The cat is described as a stray or feral female with brown/tabby colored -markings and was reported to have been seen in the Pleasant Grove Road/Hasbrouck Apartments area before, with no reports of any strange behavior until June 9th, when the cat was found on the side of the road, unable to walk. At this time, there have been no reports of human contact with this cat. If you, your pets, or someone you know may have had contact with this cat in the Pleasant Grove/Hasbrouck Apartment area, between Saturday, May 30th and Tuesday, June 9th, please call TCWH's Environmental Health Division (EH) at (607) 274-6688. Staff are on -call to respond to messages received by the answering service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Get your pets vaccinated: • Check our website for free rabies vaccination clinics, held at multiple times throughout the year. • For other free or low-cost rabies vaccine programs, contact the local chapter of the Street Doe Coalition or the Cornell Healthv Pet Clinic held at Ithaca's Southside Community Center (305 S.
