HELP CREATE A PLAN FOR THE FORMER CAMP BARTON!
A community event is scheduled to solicit public feedback on a plan for the former Boy Scout camp,
Camp Barton. Details:
• Saturday, Sept. 27
• 11am-2pm
• Trumansburg Farmer's Market- 69 W. Main St.
• Food for purchase from the Ice Cream Bar
This property is now a NYS park, managed by Three Falls LDC (a non-profit partnership of the Towns of
Ulysses and Covert and the Village of Trumansburg).

JOIN A BOARD!
The Town of Ulysses is currently seeking members for the following boards. This is a great way to get
involved and learn more about the town.
Planning Board-
Seeking 2 alternates (1-year appointment).
Typically meets at 7pm on the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month.
Duties include:
• Review and decisions on various land use permits including site plan review and special use
permits;
• Recommendations to the Board of Zoning Appeals on variance applications, and
• Recommendations to the Town Board planning goals, policies and long-range plans, such as
the Comprehensive Plan, rezones, and zoning code revisions.

Board of Zoning Appeals-
Seeking 1 alternate (1-year appointment).
Typically meets once a month at 7pm on the 3rd Wednesday.
Duties include:
• Hearing requests and issuing decisions on variances for proposed land uses or developments
that do not comply with current local zoning code; and
• Issuing decisions on appeals of any order, requirement, decision, interpretation, or
determination made by the Zoning Officer.

GET OFFLINE, GET OUTSIDE (GOGO) CHALLENGE
The Governor's "Get Offline, Get Outside" campaign encourages New York State's kids and families to
put down their phones and computers, take a break from social media, enjoy recreation and outdoor
social gatherings, and put their mental and physical health first. The Get Offline, Get Outside Challenge
supports the Governor's initiative by providing a tool to inspire youth to engage in outdoor activities.
New York State's kids are challenged to complete all 50 activities before the age of 19. The challenge is
designed to be completed by anyone and encourages participants to try new activities and visit new
parks, forests, wildlife management areas, and other outdoor locations in their communities and across
the state. With several dozen activities available, this challenge is intended to be completed over time.
Anyone who completes all 50 activities by the age of 19 can complete a simple online form to receive a
commemorative sticker and downloadable certificate to mark their accomplishment.
NOV. 4 ELECTIONS:
Election day is approaching. Details:
• Voter registration: Must be received by Tompkins County Board of Elections no later than
October 25, 2025
• Sample ballot for Ulysses
• Early Voting Dates
• Statewide ballot proposal:
Amendment to Allow Olympic Sports Complex in Essex County on State Forest Preserve Land
Allows skiing and related trail facilities on state forest preserve land. The site is 1,039 acres.
Requires State to add 2,500 acres of new forest land in Adirondack Park.
A yes vote authorizes new ski trails and related facilities in the Adirondack forest preserve.
A no vote does not authorize this use.
JOB OPENING- LAST CALL!
We are seeking a full-time Administrative Assistant 3 to serve as the central support for the
Planning/Zoning, Building, and Public Works departments.
