FINAL CALL- FUNDS AVAILABLE FOR COMMUNITY GROUPS:
For the fifth year, the Ulysses Town Board is pleased to invite community organizations serving the public
with an opportunity to request funds for 2026.
Allocations are geared toward community organizations offering services contributing to the health,
safety, and welfare of Town of Ulysses citizens. Historically, organizations have requested funding
between $500 and $5,000, and have provided senior services, arts programs, recreation, water testing,
and more.

To request a hard copy, email tnaylor townofulyssesnygov, call (607)387-5767 ext. 235, or pick one up
at the Clerk's Office at the Town Hall at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg, from 10am-3pm Monday through
Friday, or by appointment.
The submission deadline is August 8th, 2025 by 8am via one of the following:
• Electronic submission: via email to tnaylor(@townofulyssesnygov
• Hard copy submission: must be received via mail before the deadline and can be hand -
delivered to the Clerk's office at 10 Elm St. or put in the drop box to the left of the front door.
Requests will be reviewed as the Town prepares the 2026 budget. Applicants may be asked to meet with
Town Board members to give a brief presentation.
Please note that funding is not guaranteed. You will be notified after passage of the town's final budget
in November.

FREE COMMUNITY COLLEGE IN NY:
You can attend community college in New York State for FREE starting this fall if you:
• Are a resident of New York State or eligible for in -state tuition
Are between the ages of 25-55
Don't currently have a degree
• Are planning to study full -or part-time in one of 175 eligible SUNY associate degree
programs or one of 120+ eligible CUNY associate degree programs.
FISHING INFORMATION:
Please note that some information regarding fishing in NYS has been incorrectly generated by artificial
intelligence (Al) in internet searches. It's best to use DEC as your go -to resource for the most current
fishing rules and regulations across the state. Al (artificial intelligence) has not been reliable and
accurate, especially when it comes to special fishing regulations.

VILLAGE GROVE WELCOME:
To celebrate the opening of Village Grove, the new INHS housing community on Crescent Way and to
welcome its 85 residents, nonprofit organizations, service clubs and churches are hosting a welcoming
festival in collaboration with INHS on Saturday, August 2nd from 11-1 PM. Residents and adjacent
neighbors have been invited to enjoy food, activities, and learn about local programs that provide
services and opportunities to get connected in the Trumansburg area.
CITIZEN PREPAREDNESS TRAINING IN LANSING ON AUGUST 11TH:
The Citizen Preparedness Corps (CPC) gives residents the tools and resources to prepare for any type of
disaster or emergency, respond accordingly, and recover as quickly as possible to pre -disaster conditions.
The next training session in Tompkins County will be Monday, August 11th at 6:00pm at the North
Lansing Fire Station, 1189 Auburn Road (Route 34).
The CPC training courses are led by New York National Guard members working with experts from the
State Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services (DHSES) and local emergency management.
A key component of the CPC training is the distribution of a disaster preparedness kit to each family that
attends. The training is offered free of charge, but registration is required. To register,

MORE COMP PLAN DRAFTS FOR FEEDBACK:
The Town of Ulysses is in the final stretch of completion of the Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive
Plan Steering Committee (CPSC) has released the following draft chapters for public feedback:
• Housing Element
• Built Environment Element
• Economic Development Element
• Environment & Natural Resources Element

Climate Change & Resiliencv Element
The drafts were created based on community input as well as county and state objectives and statistics.
Peruse and let us know what you think! Comments may be shared at a Town Board or CPSC meeting, or
sent via email.
A second Open House to gather more public input is currently in the planning process to present the
draft Comp Plan in its entirety along with the draft environmental assessment.
More information on the venue and timing of the Open House will be provided in the near future.

Development (CEED) team takes place on Wednesday, August 27 from 11 AM —12:00 PM.
