Many thanks to the Town's DPW crew for their ongoing battle with the ice of this winter! Please be sure to drive safely and give their trucks plenty of room on the road. The Town Board is back at our regular meeting time of 7pm on Tuesday, February 25th. We'll be reviewing an initial environmental form related to the potential park land donation. This is a draft form that would be sent out to interested agencies, including the Town's Planning Board and Board of Zoning Appeals, as well as departments in Tompkins County. This draft would be intended to give people a chance to review and make recommendations for alterations as the Town works through the potential land donation process. Additionally at the Town Board will be discussing the Town Hall's parking lot project. Construction is slated for April, and I'm looking forward to having a safer, more accessible parking area for those accessing Town services. As always, our agenda packet is available here and the public are invited to participate in the meeting. We have public comment sessions at the beginning and end of our meetings. TOMPKINS COUNTY LAUNCHES CRITICAL INCIDENT STRESS MANAGEMENT TEAM The (CISM) Team was launched to assist local first responders with what is sometimes called ‘psychological first aid’. Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) is an intervention protocol developed specifically for dealing with traumatic events. The CISM Team – consisting of first responders and mental health clinicians from across Tompkins County - will be activated for a specific incident and assist with short-term crisis response. A CISM Team response can be requested to the scene for large-scale events, or at a debriefing a day or two afterwards. CISM is open to, and encouraged for, all first responders involved in the event who wish to attend. Questions regarding the CISM Team or inquiries about joining the team should be directed to Joe Milliman, EMS Program Manager, at jmilliman@tompkins-co.org or Danielle Schwarz, Peer Support Coordinator, at dschwarz@tompkins-co.org.
