JOB OPENING:
The Town of Ulysses is seeking an energetic, enthusiastic individual to provide youth development
programming for 5th-8th graders, after school and during the summer.
Candidates must possess an appreciation and genuine affection for middle grade youth, as well as the ability
to foster an inclusive, supportive environment that respects youth in that wonderous and tumultuous space
between child- and adulthood.
Hours will be primarily between 2:30-5pm (with some flexibility in the total number of hours worked/week).
Experience working with youth is strongly preferred and additional training and support will be provided.
Deadline to apply is Jan. 31.

COMMUNITY FUNDING AWARDS:
Each year in advance of budget season (usually July-August), the Town of Ulysses invites community
organizations that offer services contributing to the health, safety and welfare of town citizens to apply for
funding. The Town Board approved funding for the following organizations as part of the 2025 budget:

Jacksonville Park $ 5,000.00

Requests for 2026 will be solicited through this newsletter and the town’s website in late summer. Stay tuned!
TCFA NEWS:
Can Give Concert:
1-4pm, Sunday, January 26, at Ulysses Philomathic Library
Trumansburg Conservatory of Fine Arts (TCFA ) will host a live music event to support the Trumansburg Food
Pantry. Sponsored by TCFA's Basement Club, Lynn Wiles and George Cook will be joining players, singers and
songwriters from the Trumansburg community. The afternoon will feature a live mix of jazz, folk and blues
tunes. Drop in and catch some live music in the library reading room.

Admission is free, but please bring cans/dry goods to donate (no minimum quantity). Personal hygiene and
cleaning items are also welcome, but no clothes.

ADA- compliant path of travel from exterior to stage
Renovation of Lobby area
Renovation of front doors and portico
Renovation of existing bathrooms

WHAT DO YOU NEED IN A SURVIVAL KIT?

At a minimum, you should have the basic supplies listed below.
1. Water: one gallon per person, per day (3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for home)
2. Food: non-perishable, easy-to-prepare items (3-day supply for evacuation, 2-week supply for
home)
3. Flashlight
4. Battery-powered or hand-crank radio (NOAA Weather Radio, if possible)
5. Extra batteries
6. First aid kit
7. Medications (7-day supply) and medical items
8. Multi-purpose tool
9. Sanitation and personal hygiene items
10. Copies of personal documents (medication list and pertinent medical information, proof of
address, deed/lease to home, passports, birth certificates, insurance policies)
11. Cell phone with chargers
12. Family and emergency contact information
13. Extra cash
14. Emergency blanket
15. Map(s) of the area
After you gather the basic supplies for your kit, add unique things that family members may need.
Tailor your kit depending on the types of disasters that are common where you live.
HIP HOP WORKSHOP FOR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS!
When: Saturday January 25, 12-2pm

What to bring/wear:
1. Comfy Activewear: Loose or stretchy clothing for maximum flexibility (e.g. sweats, athletic shorts, t-shirts)
2. Shoes: Clean sneakers with good grip and support.
3. Water Bottle: To stay hydrated.
4. Hat or Beanie: For protecting the head during specific moves.

No experience is necessary, but will also appeal to dancers with some experience.
Led by dancer, poet, rapper and actor G-Quan Booker.
He is a founding member of Global Creative Family, a premier regional organization committed to elevating
performing artists.

DEC released the 2025 schedule for the following New York State licensing programs:

Exams are being offered online and free of charge, although some licenses require a fee. More information
