IN THIS WEEK'S ULYSSES NEWSLETTER: Public Hearing Upcoming Meetings Youth Services Update Photography Competition Board Vacancies HABs Resources Transportation Survey PUBLIC HEARING- STILL ACCEPTING COMMENTS: At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Ulysses held at Town Hall, 10 Elm St., Trumansburg, New York, on the 11th day of June, 2024, a resolution was passed scheduling public hearing on a local law entitled "Existing Development District Zoning Code Amendment". A Public Hearing was opened on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the Town Hall at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg NY 14886 and remains open for comment. All interested residents (or their agents/representatives) may submit written and/or oral comments. Comments may also be sent in advance to the Town Clerk at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg NY 14886 or via e-mail to clerk@ townofulyssesnygov by 5pm on July 9, 2024. UPDATE FROM THE TOWN'S YOUTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT: From Program Leader, Zak Kozlowski - As the school year has been winding down, our middle grade youth programs had their humble beginnings. In small groups, we prepared snacks including garlic mustard pesto and guacamole, and baked muffins and brownies! We played board games, explored our creeks, and hung out with friends. Now we are asking young people in the Tburg and Ulysses area: "What would be fun in the future?" If you know a middle schooler willing to share their input, please refer them to this survey. N:150118Z0 V&If•IP 1:241kINI►F The Town of Ulysses' Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee is conducting a photography competition as part of the Town's Comp Plan update. Each quarter we're requesting community members take photos of the Town that you feel best captures the spirit of our community during that season and submit them to the Committee. Selected photos will be incorporated into the adopted Comp Plan with credits given to the photographer. This season's competition is Summer! The Committee will accept photos that capture the essence of summer in the Town from June 20 to September 21, 2024. Please send an email with your photos in JPEG or TIFF format to: CompPlanSteeringCommittee antownofulyssesny-.gov BOARD VACANCIES: If you or someone you know are interested in any of the following boards, please submit a volunteer application . Questions can be sent to Niels Tygesen„ Town Planner or Katelin Olson, Town Supervisor. Planning Board- 1 full member (5-yr term) + 2 alternate positions (1-yr appointments) are available. The Planning Board is made up of 5 town residents appointed by the Town Board, and up to 2 additional residents may be appointed to serve as alternates. Some of the duties of the Planning Board include: • The review of, and issuing decisions on, various land use permits including site plan review and special use permits; • The review of, and providing recommendations to the Board of Zoning Appeals on, variance applications, and • The review of, and providing recommendations to the Town Board on, the Town's broad planning goals, policies and long-range plans, such as the Comprehensive Plan. rezones, and zoning code revisions. The Planning Board typically meets once a month at 7pm on the 1st Tuesday of the month, and periodically on the 3rd Tuesday as needed. Board of Zoning Appeals- 1 alternate position (1-year appointment) available. The Board of Zoning Appeals is made up of 5 town residents appointed by the Town Board, and up to 2 additional residents may be appointed to serve as alternates. Some of the duties of the Board of Zoning Appeals include: The review of, and issuing decisions on variance requests related to property use and certain development standards; and • The review of, and issuing decisions on appeals of decisions, interpretations, and determinations of the Zoning Officer. The Board of Zoning Appeals typically meets once a month at 7pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. The purpose and primary objective of the plan is to develop a common vision for the future of transportation in Tompkins County. Cars, freight, transit, inter -city buses, bicycles, walking, shared transportation (bike share, car share) and rail are all covered in this plan (air transport is not). You can view both the current transportation plan and information on the proposed update at the ITCTC web site: www.tompkinscountyoy.gov/itctc Public feedback is being solicited. Please take this a short survey to help shape the vision. An updated 2024 bike map for Ithaca and Tompkins County is now published and available online. Tompkins County's Chief Transportation Officer, Frank Doldo, will host several public input sessions including a brief overview of the Mobility Vision and opportunities for direct community feedback.
