IN THIS WEEK'S ULYSSES NEWSLETTER: Public Bid Opening Public Hearing Town Board Meeting Photography Competition Board Vacancies PUBLIC BID OPENING FOR PARKING LOT PROJECT: Bids for the Town Hall Parking Lot Project will be opened publicly on Friday, June 28 at 12:30pm at the Town Hall at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg NY 14886. PUBLIC HEARING: At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Ulysses held at Town Hall, 10 Elm St., Trumansburg, New York, on the 11th day of June, 2024, a resolution was passed scheduling public hearing on a local law entitled "Existing Development District Zoning Code Amendment". The Public Hearing will take place at 7pm, or as soon thereafter can be heard, on Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at the Town Hall at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg NY 14886 as well as via Zoom videoconference at https://zoom.us/j/183862745 (by telephone at +1-646-558-8656, 183862745#). Please take further notice that at the aforementioned time and place, all interested residents (or their agents/representatives) will be afforded an opportunity to submit written and/or oral comments. Comments may also be sent in advance to the Town Clerk at 10 Elm St., Trumansburg NY 14886 or via e-mail to clerk@townofulyssesny.gov by 5pm on June 25, 2024. View agenda and other meeting materials here. • The Board of Zoning Appeals meeting scheduled for Wed., June 26 has been cancelled. PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION: The Town of Ulysses' Comprehensive Plan Steering Committee is conducting a photography competition as part of the Town's Comp Plan update. Each quarter we're requesting community members take photos of the Town that you feel best captures the spirit of our community during that season and submit them to the Committee. Selected photos will be incorporated into the adopted Comp Plan with credits given to the photographer. This season's competition is Summer! The Committee will accept photos that capture the essence of summer in the Town from June 20 to September 21, 2024. Please send an email with your photos in JPEG or TIFF format to: CompPlanSteeringCommittee@townofulyssesny.gov BOARD VACANCIES: If you or someone you know are interested in any of the following boards, please submit a volunteer application . Questions can be sent to Niels Tygesen, Town Planner or Katelin Olson, Town Supervisor. Planning Board- 2 alternate positions (1-year appointments) are available. The Planning Board is made up of 5 town residents appointed by the Town Board, and up to 2 additional residents may be appointed to serve as alternates. Some of the duties of the Planning Board include: • The review of, and issuing decisions on, various land use permits including site plan review and special use permits; • The review of, and providing recommendations to the Board of Zoning Appeals on, variance applications, and • The review of, and providing recommendations to the Town Board on, the Town's broad planning goals, policies and long-range plans, such as the Comprehensive Plan, rezones, and zoning code revisions. The Planning Board typically meets once a month at 7pm on the 1st Tuesday of the month, and periodically on the 3rd Tuesday as needed. Board of Zoning Appeals- 1 alternate position (1-year appointment) available. The Board of Zoning Appeals is made up of 5 town residents appointed by the Town Board, and up to 2 additional residents may be appointed to serve as alternates. Some of the duties of the Board of Zoning Appeals include: • The review of, and issuing decisions on variance requests related to property use and certain development standards; and • The review of, and issuing decisions on appeals of decisions, interpretations, and determinations of the Zoning Officer.
